English writing is not only an important embodiment of students’ language ability,but also an essential part of teaching.But in our country,writing teaching has always been an extremely weak link in English teaching.In the traditional English writing teaching classroom,the students still play the role of accepting instead of active learning.So,the teaching effect is not very good and still far from the requirements of the syllabus.The General Senior High School English Curriculum Standard(2020)puts forward the Activity-based Learning Approach with the integration of six elements,aiming to improve students’ core literacy through “activity-based teaching”.From the perspective of the Activity-based Learning Approach,combined with Bloom’s Taxonomy of Educational Objectives and Schema Theory,this study carries out two rounds of four-month action research on English writing teaching in senior high school,mainly to research the following two questions:1.What are the effects of the English Writing Teaching on senior high students’ writing ability based on the Activity-based Learning Approach?2.What are the effects of the English Writing Teaching on senior high students’ writing interest based on the Activity-based Learning Approach?This study takes 30 first-year students from a senior high school in Shenyang as the subjects of study.Each round of action research follows the process of identifying problems,making the plan,implementing the plan,reflection and evaluation.The research instruments mainly include questionnaires,interviews and writing tests.Among them,the questionnaires are mainly used to understand students’ current writing interests and attitudes,the use of English writing strategies,and writing evaluation methods.The tests are mainly used to observe the changes of students’ writing scores,as a reference for the changes of students’ writing ability.The results of interviews are a supplement to the questionnaire and test results.By collecting and analyzing the data of writing tests,questionnaires and interviews with students,the author draws the following conclusions.The teaching of English writing in senior high school based on the Activity-based Learning Approach can improve the English writing ability of senior high school students to a certain extent and stimulate their interest in writing.With the help of teachers,students can actively participate in three kinds of activities of the Activity-based Learning Approach and evaluate their own writing content,so as to achieve effective learning.
