The 60 s and 70 s of the 20 th century were a crucial turning point in David Hockney’s artistic path.In California,a liberal city,David Hockney created a large number of classic naturalistic paintings that made Hockney famous in the art world.This thesis takes David Hockney’s naturalistic painting concept and various elements of his painting form as the main research clues,and studies his naturalistic art concept.After research,the author learned that in his naturalistic art creation,Hockney adhered to the concept that painting originated from life,depicted real people or objects in the surrounding environment in a specific way,and took the original appearance of things as the starting point to create a large number of naturalistic paintings.David Hockney’s naturalistic paintings tend to be subjective and highly decorative color expressions,which make the picture have a strong appeal and visual impact.In addition,in terms of the composition of the picture,Hockney follows his own point of view,and the unique way of composing the picture in a large frame makes his naturalistic paintings reveal a sense of rational stability and order.Complements colors based on personal emotions and achieves a complementary balance between the two.David Hockney’s fresh and bright colors,simple and summarized geometric composition and unique picture framework have given the author great creative inspiration.Therefore,this thesis takes the analysis of David Hockney’s naturalistic paintings as the starting point to study his naturalistic painting forms.The article is divided into three chapters,the first of which focuses on the factors that formed David Hockney’s naturalistic painting style.Through the combing of Hockney’s childhood and school career,this thesis paper clarifies the subtle influence of his living atmosphere and academic experience on his artistic path,as well as the generation and development of Pop Art and abstract expression art that swept up at that time on his naturalistic painting style.The second chapter mainly discusses the characteristics of his naturalistic paintings,such as subject selection,picture composition,color expression and painting techniques,and analyzes his naturalistic paintings in depth.The third chapter mainly discusses the influence of David Hockney’s naturalistic concept of painting form on individual artistic creation and the analysis of personal creative process.While absorbing its picture composition and color tone,combined with its own aesthetic needs,we strive to inherit and innovate in parallel,build our own unique painting form language,and create works of art with personal characteristics.
