Translator’s Self-revision Process In Post Editing Under House’s Translation Quality Assessment Model On The Improvement Of Translation Quality

Translation quality assessment is a very important task in the actual translation process.However,since the 1970 s,translation quality assessment has not been considered a distinct research field.Juliane House,a German translation researcher,has addressed this shortage and provided a theoretical foundation for translation quality assessment.This research methodology is comparatively objective,complete,and systematic,and it is pioneering in the study of translation quality assessment.Thus,studying House’s translation quality assessment model has great practical significance.House’s theoretical model is built upon the comparative analysis of the source language and the target text.This thesis firstly introduces House’s model,and discusses it from four perspectives: field,tenor,style,and genre.Finally,the quality of translation can be assessed by the degree of correspondence between the translation and the original text in these areas.After a thorough introduction of House’s translation quality assessment model,this thesis applies it to the secondary revision process of post-translation editors in the hope of more clearly demonstrating the specific application of this model and exploring its effectiveness in enhancing the quality of translation.Life in Lego is a comprehensive corporate biography that provides readers with insights into the growth history of the world-renowned toy brand Lego.By analyzing the edited text after the translation of Life in Lego,this thesis investigates whether the translation quality can be improved through the self-revision process based on the House translation quality assessment model.Through collecting the scores of the two versions before and after self-revision,and using the paired t-value test to verify the significance of the data differences,this thesis concludes that House’s model can effectively improve the quality of translation.
