With rapid advances in technology, many improvements have been made to make Computer Assisted Translation(CAT) tools as effective translation methods for translators. And the comparison of Post-editing(PE) and Human Translation(HM) has been investigated in many aspects, while the comparison adopted with Translation Quality Assessment(TQA) model has not been extensively studied. Besides, academic circle saw many papers of House's TQA model applied in well-known published translation works, but not in common students' translation works. The objective of the present paper, therefore, is to use House's revised TQA model to explore translation qualities of the author's translation practice, and to testify the model's feasibility and limitations. This paper is based on the author's translation practice of two chapters from The History of China published by Britannica Educational Publishing in association with Rosen Educational Services. PE was adopted in the chapter of The Yuan, or Mongol, Dynasty, while HT in the chapter of The Ming Dynasty. First, the paper gives a brief introduction to the selected part of The History of China and the paper, in which a great deal of historical sources exist. Then the author concentrates on translation process of Machine Translation(MT), setting forth three processes by virtue of memoQ software, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft(MS) Word. The core of the paper makes a contrastive study on the translation quality of PE translation and HM translation from the genre and register. Finally, the author points to the limitations of the paper with a view to providing experiences and references for other translators.
