| At the beginning of the Six Dynasties, the "Medicine Master’s Sutra" was introduced into the Central Plains, and it was not until the Tang Dynasty that the belief in medicine masters began to prosper.Classics about Medicine Buddha in Gaochang have been unearthed in the Bezkerik Grottoes,Gaochang Ancient City,Jiaohe Ancient City, and Tuyugou Ancient City, covering the period from the Six Dynasties to the Xizhou Uighur period. The earliest art works about medicine masters include the8th-9th century medicine master Rulai Banner painting, and the latest Yuan carved Tibetan print "Three Buddhas and Trick Lotte",although the belief in medicine masters in Gaochang area was introduced very early, but it was not until the Gaochang Uighur period that the "Medicine Master Jing" began to be painted. On the basis of the compilation of the paintings of Medicine Master Buddha in Gaochang area, this paper examines the beliefs and remains of medicine masters in Gaochang area,as well as the drawing of Dunhuang’s "Medicine Master’s Classics" in the Sui to Western Xia Dynasties, discusses the "Medicine Master’s Classics" in the Bosiha Grottoes and the Bezkerlik Grottoes, and interprets the content of the images combined with the classics, and the "Medicine Master’s Classics" in the Gaochang Uighur period is no longer as detailed as the Mogao Grottoes in the Tang and Song Dynasties, such as the Tiangong Tricks and Baochi Lotus Flowers of the Pure Land world, and the purpose of painting has shifted from the desire to live in the Pure Land to offerings. The "Medicine Master’s Change" in the Bezi Creek Grottoes is influenced by a variety of factors, which is more characteristic than the "Medicine Master’s Change" in the Gaochang Uighur period of the Bosiha Caves, which is reflected in the change of composition and the borrowing of iconography, revealing the process of the "Medicine Master’s Change" in the Gaochang area from imitation to absorption and innovation. |
