Father actively involvement in the growth and development process of their children,which has a significant impact on their cognitive,emotional,behavioral,moral,and other aspects.It can promote their cognitive and personality development,enhance the intimate relationship between father and children,and improve their mental health level.Middle school students are in a critical period of physical and mental development,facing diverse possibilities.Strengthening their future orientation is of great significance for their growth.Three studies were conducted to explore the role of positive emotions in father involvement in parenting and future orientation.In Study 1,a total of 752 middle school students were selected from two high schools in Fujian Province and tested on three scales: the "Adolescent Evaluation of Parental Parenting Engagement Behavior Questionnaire(Father Version)",the "Emotional Scale",and the "Adolescent Future Orientation Questionnaire".The results showed that:(1)positive emotions were significantly positively correlated with father involvement in parenting and future orientation;(2)There is a significant negative correlation between negative emotions and father involvement in parenting and future orientation;(3)Positive emotions play a partial mediating role between father involvement in parenting and future orientation.In Study 2,30 high and 30 low group students with father involvement in parenting were selected,and the magnitude of delay discount was used as a future orientation indicator.Through emotional video priming,the differences in future orientation between the two groups of middle school students under positive emotional priming were examined.The results showed that:(1)the delay discount of high group middle school students with father involvement in parenting was significantly lower than that of low level middle school students with father involvement in parenting;(2)The delay discount of middle school students in the positive emotion priming group was significantly lower than that in the negative emotion priming group.In study three,32 high school students and 30 low school students were selected for father involvement in parenting.Through emotional video initiation with different approaching motivations,the differences in the size of delay discounts between the two groups of participants were examined.The results showed that the delay discounts of middle school students in the low motivation positive emotion group were significantly lower than those in the high motivation positive emotion group.In summary,positive emotions play a partial mediating role in the involvement of father in parenting and the future orientation of junior high school students: father involvement in parenting has a positive predictive effect on the future orientation of junior high school students,and cultivating positive emotions in junior high school students helps to enhance their future orientation. |
