| Su Qing and Mei Niang, who pay close attention to the female community and write from their own rich female experience, bring us to understand the living conditions of people in a specific historical environment, especially about the survival of young intellectual women in the fallen areas, and explore the issue of emancipation of modern Chinese women, are two female writers who cannot be ignored in the history of modern Chinese literature.Although Su Qing and Mei Niang lived in Shanghai and Beiping, which were far apart during the fallen period, they were the central cities of the North and South fallen areas. Therefore,Su Qing’s and Mei Niang’s women’s consciousness reflected both sides of historical life, and at the same time, their presentation of the survival of women in the fallen areas, one in the South and one in the North, formed a local complementarity, and their creations played a role in promoting the women’s liberation movement. This paper takes Su Qing and Mei Niang as the research objects, and takes the perspective of "women’s consciousness under war" as the starting point to analyze the similarities and differences in Su Qing’s and Mei Niang’s works. The paper is divided into the following six sections. The introductory section introduces the creative and research overviews of Su Qing and Mei Niang, especially analyzes the commonalities between Su Qing and Mei Niang, and explains the significance of this thesis and the research methodology. The first chapter defines the concepts of female consciousness and feminism, compares and examines the first decade, the second decade, and women’s literature during the war period, and explores the uniqueness of women’s literary creation during the war period in a comparative analysis, focusing on the uniqueness of women’s consciousness in the fallen areas. The second chapter analyzes the female consciousness of Su Qing and Mei Niang in secular life. The special political and cultural context of the occupied areas of Shanghai and the northeast and Beiping led to the precarious life of the people, and in the face of the death threat of war, many decided to have instant pleasure. The geocultural context mainly studies the works of Su Qing and Mei Niang from the two aspects of the daily life of citizens in the large social space and the female survival of the small family space, expressing delicate emotional experience through daily space imagery and natural imagery, revealing the destruction of all aspects of the occupied area by foreign invaders behind the display of daily scenes and details, especially the analysis and exposure of human nature in that era of war.The third chapter focuses on the female consciousness in the writing of physical desires in Su Qing and Mei Niang’s works,in terms of sexual psychology,Su Qing focuses on writing to face up to female desires, while Mei Niang focuses more on writing beyond the concept of chastity.Su Qing and Mei Niang in different regions have different styles of body narratives,Su Qing adopts a bold and direct "revenge" body narrative, while Mei Niang adopts a euphemistic and implicit "accusational" body narrative, both of which provide experience and inspiration for women’s literature in the nineties. The fourth chapter analyzes their feminine consciousness by looking at the portrayal of both sexes, and both Su Qing and Mei Niang’s works have female figures of bitterness and exodus,as well as male figures of desexualization and castration. The process of Su Qing’s is "accepting-holding on to-leaving",while Mei Niang’s is "resisting-leaving-leaving again",showing the difference in the degree of women’s awakening. They also express a strong criticism of the imbalance between economics and emotions in gender relations.Chapter 5 summarizes the value and significance of studying Su Qing and Mei Niang, who explored women’s liberation in terms of their ideology, economy, and physicality, and not only inherited and enriched the "human literature" of May Fourth, which was a great success in the fallen areas, but also influenced later writers such as Wang Anyi and Chen Deng, and had important literary historical significance. It has a significant literary history.Su Qing and Mei Niang are representative writers of women’s literature in the fallen areas.Although the road to women’s liberation is long and difficult, they have made their own unique contributions to women’s liberation with their forward-looking vision and thinking. |
