Research On Self-Mutilation In The Spring And Autumn Period And The Warring States Period

The phenomenon of self-harm has existed since ancient times.The literature of the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period recorded some self-harm phenomena,which is a special means for people to solve practical contradictions and conflicts.This article attempts to investigate the historical reality of this extreme human behavior by analyzing the causes,characteristics and effects of self-harm during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods.Through sorting out,the causes of self-harm in the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods can be summarized into four categories: self-harm due to vows;Self-harm due to "loyalty";Self-harm due to sheltering others;Self-harm due to self-motivation.Different causes of self-harm indirectly lead to differences in the degree of disability,or slight injury to the skin to bleed,or serious injury to the body to disable.At the same time,self-mutilation has some characteristics,including: clear spontaneity;Thorough planning;The self-harm ratio of the scholar class is significant.Although self-mutilation is a personal act,the impact of self-mutilation can not be ignored,especially the self-mutilation of members of the aristocratic ruling group,which to some extent affected the social and political situation at that time,taking into account the identity of the self-mutilation person,the cause of self-mutilation,and the purpose of self-mutilation.The social concepts behind the self-harm behavior,such as the concept of monarchy and minister,the concept of filial piety,and the concept of culture,are also worth pondering.At the right time,the body of the self-handicapped can no longer be regarded as a simple personal body,but is endowed with certain social attributes.It is a social body under the joint action of political,economic,cultural and other factors in a specific historical environment.The personal body is branded with a deep era mark because of self-handicapping behavior.In short,by sorting out the phenomenon of self-harm during the Spring and Autumn and Warring States Period,taking self-harm as the center,taking self-harm behavior as the lead,and seeing the small as the big,we can restore the historical reality of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States from a relatively micro perspective,which is conducive to a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the Spring and Autumn and Warring States society.
