A Study On The Expression And Value Of Watercolor Style In Shanghai Institute Of Technology

In the early days of New China,the world of watercolor painting in Shanghai has experienced exploration and changes from traditional to modern.During this period,the watercolor painters of the Shanghai Light School,represented by Zhang Yinghong,created a new style of seeking innovation and change,paying attention to the composition of pictures.This new trend has opened up new ideas for the development of watercolor painting,influenced a large number of contemporary watercolor painters in Shanghai to follow,and formed a "light specialized style" with considerable scale and similar style,which has continued to this day.Today’s School of Art and Design of Shanghai Institute Of Technology,the predecessor of which is the Department of Fine Arts of Shanghai Light Industry Higher Education,known as the Huangpu Military Academy of Shanghai Design Circle,was founded in 1959.As the first and only university in Shanghai to offer watercolor majors and train watercolor artists,and also the main place for Zhang Yinghong to engage in watercolor painting teaching and work,Shanghai Light Industry College stands out from the national academy watercolor system and becomes an important part of Shanghai watercolor.In the middle of the 1980 s,the light vocational college gradually developed a special teaching system of combining design with watercolor,in which the light vocational college teachers represented by Zhang Yinghong and Chen Peirong played a pivotal role.The university environment of Shanghai Light Industry College,which attaches importance to industry and design,has deeply affected Zhang Yinghong’s watercolor creation,making him start to use a large number of elements of plane composition in his mature creation,and also has a unique style trend among contemporary artists.The main contributions of Zhang Ying’s flood color paintings can be reflected in his personal art creation and art education: in his personal creation,he insisted on painting national watercolor paintings with national characteristics in terms of painting themes and concepts.In terms of painting techniques,Zhang Yinghong,relying on the inheritance and transformation of traditional watercolor painting techniques,completed the technical innovation,making Shanghai watercolor painting change the tendency of traditional draft painting,and become a mature painting subject.He launched a large number of watercolor paintings with innovative spirit,opposed to stylization,and strong modernity.In teaching,Zhang Yinghong has established a basic curriculum system that focuses on creation and supplemented by sketching and copying.He has trained a group of special teacher echelons of watercolor painters in the painting major of light vocational colleges,making a strong contribution to the expansion of watercolor painting in Shanghai in the future.
