| The English word is the basic part to compose English language,the importance of vocabulary is just like the bricks of buildings.The grammar can’t compose a language without words.The English vocabulary learning is always a great difficulty for junior middle school students.The good ability of English listening,speaking,reading and writing need a amount of words to support.Quantitative change leads to qualitative change,The enhancement of the words’ quantity is the premises and guarantee for the improvement of English ability.Only mastering good vocabulary teaching methods,teachers can effectively improve students’ vocabulary level,and improve students’ English expression ability.This paper is based on Thorndike’s theory of connectinism.The main research method of this paper are literature analysis method,observational method,text analysis method and surveying method.The problems and shortcomings are found in the teaching by analyzing the current English teaching situation of junior middle school.That are the vocabulary teaching out of context and object,the chinese blocking in the vocabulary teaching and the weak connection between words and pronunciation.According to Thorndike’s connectionist theory,connection is learning.While connection is processing in the brain,that is,learning must also rely on the activity processing of the brain’s nervous system,and vocabulary learning is no exception.Through experiments,Thorndike proved that simple sequence contiguity is difficult to form connection,that is,it is difficult to form learning.So there must be belongingness between two things to produce learning.Therefore,the paper gives countermeasures,which are learning vocabulary based on context,establishing the connection between words and objects,and establishing the connection between words and words.In the end,according to the countermeasures of vocabulary teaching,the paper make some simple English vocabulary teaching design. |
