A Study On The Calligraphy Art Of Yuanzhen’s Epitaph

Yuan’s Epitaph,as an important burial object of the Yuan family in the Northern Wei Dynasty,has been underground for many years.Since modern times,more than 100 epitaphs have been unearthed one after another,which has attracted wide attention."Yuanzhen Epitaph" is the oldest of the Yuan family epitaphs.Firstly,I try to explore the influence factors of calligraphy art of Yuan’s epitaph from many aspects,including the Northern Wei Dynasty’s political culture,social fashion,carvers ground up,and classify the style of Yuan’s epitaph into four categories: square,strange,neat and elegant.Secondly,by analyzing the writer and the sculptor of the Epitaph of Yuan Zhen,I found that the sculptor was chosen by the authorities and possessed superb skills,which were better than ordinary people.Because Epitaphs of Yuan Zhen was composed in the stage of changing from official script to regular script,the use of characters is very casually,and it actually contains three types: decrease,increase and change.Thirdly,the characteristics of calligraphy art are analyzed particularly by using pictures and words.(1)There are two kinds of strokes: square and round,and the shapes of the characters are diverse.(2)Structurally,the left side is low,while the right side is high;the middle is tight,and has excellent balance properties.(3)Changes occur in the grid,closely related to each other meanwhile.Fourthly,based on "Yuanzhen Epitaph",I have carried out specific calligraphy creations and have the following experiences.First,the method is diverse and the inscriptions are integrated.Second,rationally absorb and integrate into one’s own will.Third,reduce tracing and pay more attention to using the pen.
