| Canadian writer Margaret Atwood is known as the "Queen of Canadian Literature".Her works have won various awards at home and abroad for many times.Her works cover multiple themes and have profound connotation,and her attention and portrayal of female groups are the ultimate.Atwood has never stopped writing.Her works have shaped the female world.She is keen to create female roles,write the desolation and sadness of the female world,connect the vulnerable female groups with the devastated Canada,and poke the traumatic experience of women in their growth and life into the hearts of readers with humorous and profound language and understatement.It is precisely because of her extraordinary creative ability,Each heroine’s growing sadness and happiness will be portrayed delicately and truly,so as to arouse the empathy of readers and truly appreciate the gorgeous bloom of female color.The theme of trauma is an inseparable topic in the study of Atwood’s novels.In her works,all female protagonists,regardless of their status and education,have experienced trauma in some way,Therefore,this paper selects five novels(The Edible woman,Surfacing,The Handmaid’s Tale,Cat’s Eye and The Blind Assassin)created by Atwood in the 1970 s and1990s as the research center,uses trauma theory and close reading of the text to analyze how trauma writing in Atwood’s novels is carried out,and explores the author’s Thinking on the survival dilemma of female groups,And the coping strategies given to women groups to get out of trauma in their works.The paper is roughly divided into three parts.The first part is the introduction,which involves the reason and significance of the topic,combs the development of trauma theory and the research status of Margaret Atwood’s works and trauma writing,puts forward the research objectives,contents and methods,summarizes and points out the innovation of this paper.As the second part,the first,second and third chapters of the text classify the above five works of Atwood on the theme of trauma,which are divided into gender trauma,family trauma and culture.The first chapter takes Cat’s Eye,The Edible woman and The Handmaid’s Tale as the center,comprehensively analyzes the oppression from the male discourse center under various identity changes in the growth process of the female protagonist from girl to woman and from daughter to wife,and analyzes the different ways of facing trauma,so as to explore Atwood’s gender trauma writing.The second chapter focuses on The Blind Assassin.Because the content of The Blind Assassin involves the life experience of five generations of a family,is more representative to explore Atwood’s family trauma writing.Therefore,taking The Blind Assassin as the research center,it analyzes the family trauma suffered by the five generations in the unbalanced family ethical order and marriage relationship,and summarizes Atwood’s expectations and Enlightenment to contemporary people in creating a harmonious and orderly family ethical relationship.The third chapter focuses on Surfacing,Cat’s Eye and The Blind Assassin.Combined with the particularity of Canadian colonial history,it analyzes the protagonist’s trauma performance,the causes of trauma and the final method of healing trauma,so as to explore Atwood’s Cultural Trauma writing.The last part is the conclusion of the paper.Through Atwood’s trauma writing,this part perceives her real thinking when facing the survival dilemma of women groups,and summarizes the practical value behind Atwood’s trauma writing,that is,to arouse readers’ attention to trauma,pay attention to healing trauma,and effectively convey the way to heal trauma to contemporary women groups. |
