| The art of Dunhuang Grottoes stretches for thousands of years from the 4th century AD to the 14 th century AD,integrating architecture,sculptures and murals into one,of which the murals are particularly exquisite.Although the plant elements in Dunhuang murals are not always the main body of the works,they play the role of rendering atmosphere,decoration and beautify.Artists "learn from nature" and depict plants in a naive but vivid way,which also has the unique artistic characteristics of the period.The plant elements in Dunhuang murals are also called "flower trees".Different flower trees symbolize different meanings in Buddhist classics.Plant elements run throughout the mural works,rendering the ideal state of "dreamlike" in the Buddhist world,bringing different beliefs to the believers and at the same time showing the superb painting technical level of the artists of that era.This paper will analyze the origin and style evolution of plant elements in Dunhuang murals,the exploration of the painting language of plant elements in Dunhuang murals in contemporary art,and the author’s experimental series of creation.Based on the research idea of "reading art history literature--field trip--visiting relevant museums and art galleries--reviewing literature,sorting and classifying--questionnaire and interview records--exploration of painting practice--re-exploration of painting creation",this paper conducts theoretical research on plant elements in Dunhuang frescoes by means of comparative research,economic impact research,questionnaire survey,interview records and other research methods.And further contemporary painting language conversion.Starting from the plant elements in Dunhuang frescoes,this paper uses the combination of water-based pigments such as color ink and acrylic with oil painting materials to convert the language of comprehensive material painting,and carries out four different series of experimental creations,trying to explore more possibilities of transforming plant elements in Dunhuang frescoes into contemporary painting language.While providing Oriental aesthetic elements for contemporary art creation,spreading Chinese traditional culture more effectively is of great significance for the development of the market economy of contemporary art in our country,realizing the cultural confidence of the Chinese nation,and enhancing our cultural soft power,etc. |
