The COVID-19 pandemic is fierce and protracted,and has had a considerable impact on all walks of life,especially the aviation industry.Therefore,research on the development of the aviation industry during the COVID-19 pandemic,especially the in-depth research on airline startups during the pandemic,is of great value,and has important reference significance for China’s aviation industry to face similar sudden disasters in the future.The source text of this translation practice report is an academic paper that studies the development of airline startups during the COVID-19 pandemic.In this paper,46 airline startups that were established or active during the pandemic were thoroughly and comprehensively studied.According to the obtained research results,the author innovatively proposed an eight-sided framework for these airline startups,and analyzed in detail where they can be improved from eight different aspects.Finally,it puts forward how the airline startups can better achieve success from seven aspects.Adopting Catford’s translation shifts theory,combined with the source text,carefully extracts 42 typical examples from the source text for in-depth analysis,and helps readers better understand the source text.In the actual translation process,the translator always takes the translation equivalence between the target text and the source text as the fundamental purpose,and Catford’s translation shifts theory has played an important role in better realizing translation equivalence.This translation practice report is of great reference value for airline startups or active airlines during the pandemic,professionals in the aviation field,and translators interested in aviation informative texts.This translation practice report is mainly divided into four chapters.The first chapter introduces the translation task,the second chapter explains the whole translation process,and the third chapter makes a detailed analysis of various translation problems encountered in the source text from the perspective of level shifts and category shifts in Catford’s translation shifts theory.The translator makes a supplementary analysis at the end of this chapter for the aspects not covered by the main part of Catford’s translation shifts theory.In the last chapter,the translator summarizes the completion of this translation practice report.This translation practice report is the first attempt in China to conduct English-Chinese translation and research on the development of airline startups during the COVID-19 pandemic,which is also the innovation of this translation practice report.
