Research On Adverbs Of Degree In San Guo Yan Yi

San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》)is a great literary work in the late Yuan and early Ming Dynasties.Its corpus is detailed and truthful,which truly reflects the language appearance at that time.It is a national treasure loved by the people.Its language research value is self-evident,and there is no data to study the degree adverbs,so it has the space for in-depth research.Taking the degree adverbs in the whole book of San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》)as the research object,on the basis of exhaustive investigation and statistics,this paper first divides the 40 degree adverbs in San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》)into five categories:"high degree","higher degree","low degree","deepening degree"and"Near degree",From the three aspects of"number of words,frequency of words and grammatical function",this paper explores the specific situation of each type of degree adverbs,and preliminarily outlines the general picture of degree adverbs in San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》);Secondly,the degree adverbs in San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》)are compared with Shui Hu Zhuan(《水浒传》)at the same time to reflect the characteristics of the degree adverbs in San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》);Finally,it selectively traces the origin of the three special words"Zhengxie(ER)(“争些儿”),Yifa(“一发”)and Te(“忒”)",makes a diachronic investigation from the aspects of semantic characteristics,combinatorial ability and syntactic function,and explores their development and evolution track,so as to provide some valuable references for the study of the lexical evolution process of Chinese degree adverbs.In terms of the number of word items,the number of adverbs in the category of"high degree of expression"is the largest(18);The category of"table deepening"followed(10);"Low degree of appearance"(6);"Higher degree of expression"category(4);There are at least(2)"Near degree"categories,which shows that the adverbs of"high degree"category are the leading part of speech of degree adverbs in San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》),and the lexical root system is the most developed.In terms of frequency of use,the five categories of degree adverbs in San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》)appeared 13014 times,of which 3547 times were used as degree adverbs in sentences.The category of"high degree"is used the most frequently,3181 times,and the category of"almost degree"is used the least,only 8 times,which shows that the internal development of degree adverbs in San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》)is unbalanced.From the perspective of grammatical function,firstly,the modified objects of degree adverbs in the romance of San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》)are mainly verbs and adjectives,and can also modify phrases,such as subject predicate phrases and verb object phrases;It is mainly used as an adverbial in a sentence to form an adverbial structure;Secondly,in terms of syllable combination,the degree adverbs in the romance of San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》)mainly modify monosyllabic words,disyllabic words and polysyllabic words;Finally,in terms of applicable sentence patterns,the degree adverbs in the romance of San Guo Yan Yi(《三国演义》)are mainly used in affirmative sentences.From the perspective of lexical evolution,the most direct and common reason for the gradual solidification of"Zhengyou(ER)"(“争些儿”)and"Yifa"(“一发”)from phrases to words,and the transformation of"Te"(“忒”)from notional words to functional words is the catalysis of high-frequency use,so as to form a more complex syntactic structure.Under the action of cognitive psychology and language application,the semantic focus is likely to shift,Lead to the final change of lexical meaning.
