| Positive discourse analysis advocates a positive attitude to deal with various social contradictions,hoping to build a harmonious and equal society.Appraisal theory is the main analytical method of positive discourse analysis because it uses language to express attitude,so attitude resources are the core system of appraisal theory.Common prosperity is the essential requirement of socialism with Chinese characteristics and the essential feature of China’s modernization.In the report of the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,the importance of common prosperity is mentioned many times,and the news report on common prosperity conforms to the common expectations and yearning of the Party and the people,so is good news advocated by positive discourse analysis.This paper takes common prosperity news reports as the research object,explores the attitudinal resources used in common prosperity news reports and their distribution characteristics from the perspective of positive discourse analysis,and analyzes the positive significance conveyed by their distribution characteristics.In this study,40 common prosperity news reports in English were selected from China Daily for positive discourse analysis,and a corpus of 29,308 words was built.This paper took attitude resources as the theoretical framework,and uses the corpus analysis tool UAM Corpus Tool 3.3x to label and statistically the distribution characteristics of common prosperity news reports,and further analyzes how these attitude resources convey positive discourse meaningThrough analysis,the results are as follows.Firstly,the three categories of attitude resources,affect resources,judgment resources and appreciation resources are all reflected in common prosperity news reports,but their distribution is uneven.Among them,judgment resources account for the highest proportion,followed by appreciation resources,and finally affect resources,with 46.95%,26.70% and 26.35% respectively.Secondly,among attitude resources,judgment resources convey the Chinese government’s strong ability to achieve common prosperity,firm determination and high sense of responsibility,as well as the excellent qualities of overcoming difficulties and working hard Chinese the people.Appreciation resources reflect the government’s full affirmation of the value and significance of the common prosperity policy and its results.Affect resources show the government’s desire for positive development,as well as confidence in achieving common prosperity and satisfaction with what has been achieved.Thirdly,the proportion of positive resources are higher than that of negative resources,indicating that the government has a positive attitude towards achieving common prosperity,and shows the government’s efforts and determination to achieve common prosperity.This study analyzes positive meanings of common prosperity news reports,which not only helps the public understand the common prosperity policy,but also improves people’s confidence in realizing socialism with Chinese characteristics.In addition,it also indicates the country’s determination to achieve common prosperity and promote the construction of a harmonious society. |
