Research On The Application Of Metaphor Of Symbolism In Oil Painting Creation

Symbolism is a genre with a unique style that emerged in the French art school at the end of the nineteenth century.Symbolism is a new way of artistic creation explored by people who are dissatisfied and tired of the status quo of social life and the control of culture by those in power.It mainly represents the thinking and expression of human nature,life,desire,and so on in literature and painting creation.Commonly,symbolist artists used symbols,metaphors,and allusions to explore human nature itself.They do not take the objective world as the only reference,but boldly build a brand-new world in their subjective fantasy.Based on that,they express their wishes and emotions as well as their understanding of humanity.And with the skill of symbolism and suggestion,the painters show their consideration for the existence of life,love,desire,and humanity in a mysterious atmosphere.This thesis discusses the application of symbolism metaphors in paintings and explores the topic of humanity and life with suggestive expressions interpreted by symbolism painters.Besides,the thesis also includes some of my perceptions and experiences during my postgraduate study.
