Deleuze ended the world of film theory where semitics ruled for a decade, opening the Deleuze era of film theory. As an important basis of Deleuze’s image ontology,Rancière was often regarded as a critic of that. This paper starts from the misreading of the image topology, discusses how he finally returns to his image theoris in criticism, how the key concepts become the basis of the image theories, and discusses the influence of the important theories that he took off when inheriting and misreading his image theory.Chapter 1 will discuss the establishment and significance of the image ontology in detail. This section details three stages of French image theory,"Bazan era","Metz era" and "Deleuze era",while discussing the Rancière’s theory belonging to the "Deleuze era".On the basis of those, the end of this chapter will explore the researches which is about the relationship between the image theory of Rancière and that of Deleuze.Chapter 2 discusses Rancière’s criticism and misreading of Deleuze imaging topology.Movement-image and time-image are the most two important concepts manufactured by Deleuze, which constructed the basis of image topology. But Rancière believed that Deleuze had created a break between movement-image and time-image,and Rancière proposed a term named the film fable, which is a solution to this fracture. This chapter attempts to return to Deleuze’s text by stating that there is no such a rupture in Deleuze’s theory, and attempts to analyze the reasons why Rancière caused this misreading.Chapter 3 discusses the acceptance of the Deleuze and Rancière’s image theories of Formations: Articulability and Visibility.Articulability and Visibility underwent a long process from the proposition of Michel Foucault to the supplementary application by Deleuze to image analysis. This chapter details the two importance concepts,Articulability and Visibility,of Foucault’s theories, how Deleuze introduces this set of key concepts into image analysis, and gives new connotations such as decentralization, potential and reality. At the same time, this analyzes the inheritance and extension of this set of concepts in details, how these two concepts become the basis of the image system.
