| Based on international Chinese teaching design theories and research on garden culture,this paper presents the teaching design and teaching practice of a course on the culture of Suzhou gardens,an outstanding representative of Chinese classical gardens,with international students of intermediate and advanced levels of Chinese language at a university in Eastern China as the teaching target.The paper begins with an overview of the main elements of Suzhou garden culture,followed by an analysis of the main cultural implications of the garden elements of Suzhou gardens,a distillation of the core elements of Suzhou garden culture as the theme of the teaching design,and an analysis of the application value of Suzhou garden culture in international Chinese language education.This is followed by an overall grasp of the basic information of the teaching targets and the use of questionnaires to analyse their level of knowledge of Suzhou garden culture,and then to determine the corresponding teaching objectives,teaching principles,teaching methods and teaching contents.Through the analysis of the teaching background information and the combination of relevant cultural teaching design theories,the teaching design of the Suzhou Garden Culture course was completed and two hours of teaching practice on Suzhou Garden Culture were selected to demonstrate the specific implementation process of the teaching design.During the teaching practice,feedback on teaching effectiveness is obtained through classroom observations,post-class quizzes and post-class interviews,and a teaching journal is written and reflected upon in depth.Based on the analysis of the teaching design and practice,I believe that in terms of curriculum,both domestic universities and Confucius Institutes should pay more attention to the excellent traditional Chinese architecture and culture,and promote the further enrichment and diversification of the cultural curriculum.In terms of international Chinese classroom teaching,teachers should combine virtual simulation technology with classroom teaching,simulate real interactive experiences for students,design diverse interactive methods such as mutual evaluation and role-playing by students,and increase communication activities between teachers and students.In terms of the content of international Chinese language teaching,attention should be paid to the selection and arrangement of teaching content,balancing the streamlining and completeness of teaching content.Classical Chinese gardens are an important carrier of traditional Chinese culture and an important window for the world to understand Chinese culture.At present,there is a wealth of ontological research on classical Chinese gardens in domestic academia,while the research on teaching Chinese classical garden culture in the field of international Chinese language education has not received sufficient attention.Through this teaching design and teaching practice,the author attempts to provide a teaching case with some reference value for international Chinese language and culture teaching,and thus enrich the content of international Chinese language teaching. |
