| With the development of technology, transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)with continuous adjustable repetitive stimulation has emerged and gained more and more recognition in the fields of clinical psychiatry, neurological diseases and rehabilitation. It mainly achieves therapeutic purposes through different frequencies, and has been widely used in neuropsychology(depression, sperm syndrome),rehabilitation, pediatrics(cerebral palsy, autism, etc.)and other fields.Among them, the efficacy of depression, sleep disorders and other diseases have achieved gratifying clinical results as a non-drug treatment. To introduce this technology, the third and fourth chapters of the book rTMS Treatment for Depression were selected as the source text of the translation project. The two chapters introduces the action mechanism of rTMS and high-frequency rTMS.As a text on medical technology, the book rTMS Treatment for Depression is a typical informative text, involving the use of medical terminologies and technical expressions.Under the guidance of Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory, this report analyses the source text features, translation difficulties and solutions. At the lexical level, the source text features the use of terminologies and words from the fields of psychiatry, neuroscience and medical care.At the syntactic level,it is characterized by the features of medical science text, including the use of complex sentences and passive voice. At the textual level,it attaches importance to logical cohesion and textual coherence.Under the guidance of functional equivalence, the report analyzes the solution to the lexical and syntactic difficulties through the methods of transliteration, division, omission, conversion and reorderingThrough this project, the translator has gained some understanding of medical translation. It is hope that this report would offer some reference for general readers and professionals in medical field, especially those working with the treatment of depression. |
