A Study On The Semantic Evolution Of The "Duo Bi" Meaning Verb "Bi/Yin/Shan/Duo"

This paper is composed of seven parts,taking the four verbs "bi","yin","shan" and "duo" in the semantic field of "duo bi" as the research object,so as to make a comprehensive investigation of the diachronic corpus.This paper analyzes the intrinsic semantic features of the four verbs "bi","yin","shan" and "duo",and clarifies the semantic evolution path of the four verbs "bi","yin","shan" and "duo".The first part is the introduction,which mainly summarizes the relevant researches on the semantic evolution of "duo bi" by domestic and foreign scholars,explains the reasons for choosing "duo bi" semantic verbs,as well as the objectives,methods and meanings of studying "duo bi" semantic verbs.at the same time,this part gives the sources of research corpus.The second part examines the semantic evolution of "bi".The verb "bi" by the original meaning "duo bi" extended out of the multiple semantic item,"hui bi","bi rang / xun rang","ya yu / bu ji","li kai / yuan li","bi mian / fang zhi","bi hui","wei bei",and "yin cang",etc.The third part is the semantic evolution of "yin".The semantic evolution path of "yin" is more extensive,it not only can be used as a verb,but also as an adjective or adverb.The "yin" from the original meaning "duo bi" developed semantic item of "yin cang","yin man(meng bi)","yin mo / mai mo","yin ju","yin bi de / nei zai de","xi wei / jing shen",and "an an de / an di li",etc.The fourth part is the semantic evolution of "shan",The "shan" through the semantic item of "tou kan" developed "hu yin hu xian / tu ran chu xian",and then evolve the meaning of "duo bi",and from the meaning of "duo bi" develop the meaning of "bi rang" and "zhe lan".The fifth part is the investigation of the semantic evolution on "duo".The "duo" appeared relatively late,and it’s meaning is relatively simple and clear.From the original meaning of "duo bi",the meaning of "yin cang" and "bi rang" are extended.The sixth part is a comparative analysis of the semantic evolution of the verbs "bi","yin","shan" and "duo".Summary and shortcomings in the last section.
