Chang Tan Cong Lu(《常谈丛录》)is a literary sketches in the Daoguang period,written by Li Yuanfu,a local scholar in Jinxi,Jiangxi.The contents of the book are recorded in the folk customs,local anecdotes,the name and description of the local thing,and humanistic anecdotes of the Jiangxi region.From the perspective of lowlevel literati,the book shows the social outlook of Jiangxi in the three periods of Qianlong,Jiaqing and Daoguang of the Qing Dynasty.It embodies Li Yuanfu’s rich ideological and social activities and literary concepts,and has high literary value and historical value.However,at present,the academic community has not formed systematic research results,and relevant research still needs to be further strengthened.This thesis takes Li Yuanfu and his Chang Tan Cong Lu as the research object,combines the historical background,digs deep into the text,and strives to carry out a systematic and comprehensive research,aiming to supplement the life materials of Li Yuanfu and explore the source,characteristics and thoughts and emotions contained in his creation.On this basis,its unique position in the history of sketches during the late Qing Dynasty is clarified.This thesis is divided into upper and lower two series,including the research of Chang Tan Cong Lu and the collation of Chang Tan Cong Lu.Among them,the research on Chang Tan Cong Lu is divided into four chapters:The first chapter mainly combines the local history and the text content of the Chang Tan Cong Lu,supplementing and improving Li Yuanfu’s birth and death years,family lineage,friendship,the imperial examination and other information.On this basis,this thesis explores the sources and creative concepts of the Chang Tan Cong Lu to further present Li Yuanfu’s life experience and ideological concepts.The second chapter explain the title of " Chang Tan " and " Cong Lu " from the aspects of bibliographic standards and style,and specifically discusses the institutional characteristics of Chang Tan Cong Lu and its inheritance and development of previous sketches.It can be found that the bibliographic standard of " Ordinary and bizarre are one" and the stylistic characteristics of "similar to sketches from the Tang and Song Dynasties ".In addition,through the various phenomena presented in the compilation of the Chang Tan Cong Lu,the characteristics embodied in the writing process of sketches,as well as the reception subject and circulation of sketches,are discussed.The third chapter classifies the contents of the Chang Tan Cong Lu,which are complex and all-encompassing,with no established title for each volume,let alone an obvious classification.Therefore,according to the main content of each article,it can only be roughly divided into five parts: regional culture and folk phenomena,Local anecdotes and canonical systems,the name and description of the local thing,strange stories,and foreign culture.The fourth chapter mainly discusses the value connotation of the Chang Tan Cong Lu from the aspects of literary value and historical material value.Li Yuanfu’s Chang Tan Cong Lu not only preserves the poetry of local literati and precious opera materials,puts forward influential literary insights,but also presents a breakthrough in traditional supernatural novel.In addition,the sketches truly records the social and cultural life and commercial economy at that time,and preserves a large number of historical materials for future generations,which has high historical value.Since there is no compilation of the Chang Tan Cong Lu so far,it hinders the researchers’ in-depth exploration of this sketches.Therefore,the second part of the thesis comprehensively sorted out the photocopy of Chang Tan Cong Lu in the 28 th year of Daoguang engraving by Dunrentang,so as to provide reference for the academic community to better understand this sketches.
