Climate change is a dire global challenge confronted by mankind today.Actively responding to climate change is the inherent demand of China’s sustainable development, and the grand historical accountability for China for fulfillment as a major country and the acceleration of Community of Shared Future for Mankind.Under this backdrop, most ecological protection works ponder over the tie between man and nature with the ecosystem as a whole, and awaken people to return to the harmony between nature and man through civilization criticism. This report selects theoretical work Forestry and Climate Change(Chapter 6)by Jim Lynch,Mark Broadmeadow, and Peter Freer-Smith for E-C translation practice. It takes Lawrence Venuti’s translation theory of Domestication and Foreignization as a guidance to explore different translation methods and techniques.Forestry and Climate Change is the informative text.Chapter 6 mainly deals with implications for future forestry and related environmental and development policy. It demonstrates facts, information, knowledge, suggestions, etc. Its linguistic aspect features logicality, with priority on content rather than form. With reference of the Theory of Domestication and Foreignization, this report will delve into the translation methods and techniques of the informative text from aspects like lexics and syntactics.Techniques such as amplification, omission, reconstruction, shift, literal translation and transliteration will be utilized,so as to search for the expression more in line with the lingual style of the target language. This report illustrates that the Theory of Domestication and Foreignization by Lawrence Venuti can tackle with the long twisted expression and the rigorous style involved in informative texts,as well as maximally retain the authenticity and expressiveness in the process of cross-cultural translation. The report aims to deepen into the translation methods of western classical forestry and environmental protection information. It hopes to be of reference value for the parallel texts, and to deliver significance for the international and domestic societies to seek the vision of collectively building a harmonious ecology.
