A Report On E-C Translation Of Human-Environment Relations And Politics In Indonesia (Chapter Five)

Ecological construction has been a very important part of national development since ancient times.The purpose of this translation practice report is to explore solutions to problems in ecological translation through studying the translation difficulties in Human-Environment Relations and Politics in Indonesia-Conflicting Ecologies.This is of practical significance to the translation and introduction of foreign ecological governance experience as well as the implementation of President Xi Jinping’s concept that “Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”.This report is guided by Chesterman’s translation norm theory because of its good adaptability in the case of great cultural differences between the source language and the target language.The translator focuses on the translation of professional terms,attributive clauses,subject clauses and long and difficult sentences.After the first translation,the translation of some very simple clauses can not achieve the desired effect through literal translation,especially some sentences connected by time adverbs.In addition,the translation of terms is also a big problem,some of which can not be found in Wikipedia.Therefore,I focus on these two parts in the second translation.It is found that many problems in ecological translation can be solved under the guidance of Chesterman’s theory.Through expectancy norms,the translator presents a translation suitable for Chinese readers from the perspective of readers;through accountability norms,it solves the complex sentence structure and makes the logic clearer;through communication norms,it solves the translation of difficult terms;through relation norms,it gives full play to the translator’s subjectivity and makes the translation faithful to the original text.From a practical point of view,this practice report is a supplement for foreign theories to guide domestic ecological translation.From an academic point of view,there are only a few papers on ecological text translation under the guidance of Chesterman’s theory.Therefore,this report is expected to provide scholars with some humble opinions on the study of ecological translation.
