Antonio Lopez-Garcia,born on 6 January 1936 in the Spanish town of Real, now residing in Madrid,is a renowned Spanish painter and one of the most sought-after artists internationally today. He is often referred to as a "realist artist" and a "20th century figurative painter of the world".His works are mostly based on nature, urban street scenes and interior spaces, and the concepts of ’temporality’,’spatiality’ and ’secrecy’ are framed in his visual texts that contain authenticity. He has structured his visual texts with authenticity. He expands the silent and hidden spaces of painting, the real and immaterial figurative, and presents a unique ’reality’ in both the use of painting materials and expression. The tone of his work is a cohesive spirit of the moment and the eternal, breaking away from the visual and psychological stereotypes we are accustomed to and conveying universal value systems and social ideologies.Through López García’s calm and austere paintings, one can gradually sense the artist’s strong desire to actively search the heart,to gain insight into the inner life and emotional value of nature, and his works always reveal a stirring clarity and stillness. This paper explores the subject matter, visual presentation, symbolism and aesthetic value of authenticity in Lopez Garcia’s paintings, starting with the ’authenticity’ of painting. The first chapter defines the concept of "authenticity" and clarifies the concept of "authenticity" in painting."The second chapter analyses the causes of "authenticity" in Lopez García’s paintings, looking at four aspects: his uncle’s enlightenment, his academic education, his social background and his artistic practice.Chapter 4 explores the visual presentation of"authenticity" in Lopez Garcia’s paintings, looking at the four formal languages of space and time, colour, atmosphere, brushwork and material. The fifth section analyses the symbolic symbols of "authenticity" in Lopez Garcia’s paintings, portraying them in four aspects:silence and nostalgia, simplicity and simplicity, rigour and rationality, privacy and mystery;the sixth section analyses the unique value of "authenticity" in Lopez Garcia’s paintings in two dimensions: aesthetic value and social value.
