The process of children acquiring polysemous nouns has always been a topic of concern for linguists. The phenomenon of polysemy in word sense category reflects the process of human cognition of the objective world and its conceptualization and categorization. The research on the acquisition of various meanings of polysemous nouns in early Chinese children is mostly conducted vertically by a single child, and the explanatory mechanisms are mostly metaphor and metonymy.Based on this, this article studies the corpus of 12 Chinese children in the CHILDES corpus from both horizontal and vertical perspectives. It uses more convincing statistical data analysis methods and establishes an effective Chinese children’s acquisition of polysemous noun meaning processing model(SICCAP)to optimize the research process. The frequency and order of children’s acquisition of various meanings are calculated, and three types of semantic acquisition are summarized and corresponding charts are generated,Based on the semantic acquisition phenomenon shown in the chart, using linguistic and psychological theories such as prototype theory, multi factor theory, assimilation and adaptation to explain, summarize the characteristics of the early acquisition process of polysemy nouns in Chinese children, and explore general laws. The SICCAP model can efficiently complete the work of inputting corpus and outputting charts;Studying from a horizontal and vertical perspective can enrich existing research on children’s acquisition of various meanings of polysemous nouns. This article is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1 introduces the research purpose, significance, and innovative points.Chapter 2 introduces the literature review, including an overview of the semantic acquisition of children’s polysemous nouns;Introduce the research on the semantic acquisition of early nouns in Chinese children both domestically and internationally.Through the study of the acquisition order of English morphemes, multiple factors affecting the process of children’s noun acquisition, the use of computer tools to handle natural language research, and the comparison of prototype and polysemy,it is found that the significance of this study lies in supplementing relevant research content;Define the standards for children’s semantic acquisition.Chapter 3 describes the research process: Firstly, the Chinese children’s acquisition of polysemous noun meanings processing model(SICCAP)was developed, and based on the Modern Chinese Dictionary,Python and Jieba Chinese word segmentation components were used to screen out the polysemous nouns spoken by children in Chinese;Determine the research object based on two criteria: high frequency and comprehensiveness for exhaustive manual interpretation;Large scale mapping is used to describe the distribution of meaning acquisition from the perspectives of a single child and a group of 12 children;Summarize three types of semantic acquisition based on their distribution and select some representative words for detailed description; Finally, two Chinese children’s corpora were tested and compared with 12 children to obtain the results. The general rules of polysemous noun semantic acquisition in Chinese children were discussed: there is at least one early and frequently used first semantic in the acquisition process, which can be explained as a "prototype" according to the prototype theory; When most polysemous nouns are acquired, their first semantic frequency is relatively high, and 12 children only use their first semantic when acquiring polysemous nouns such as clothing, animals, and colors as they age; Most polysemous nouns quickly acquire other meanings after acquiring their first meaning; It is rare for multiple children to acquire the same semantics within the same age(month),but there are still three highly controversial natural and abstract words: "person","appearance",and "home".The semantic acquisition process reflects the ambiguity between the semantic edges.Chapter 4 provides conclusions and prospects, summarizes the research results of the three types of semantic acquisition, and points out the shortcomings, and looks forward to future research.
