| Realism film theory,as one of the two classic film theories,pays particular attention to the relationship between film and reality.Realism explores the aesthetics of how films depict the real world,believing that the essence of film is to reproduce material reality,an artistic form that records and reflects real life,rather than creating fictional stories or forms.At the same time,realism film theory also emphasizes that films should respect the diversity and complexity of reality,which has had a profound impact on the research and practice of documentaries.mockumentary,which has evolved from documentaries and is a sub-type of films,has characteristics that differ from both documentaries and feature films in terms of film materials,methods and techniques,form and appearance,and functional value.This article raises the question of how realism film theory,as one of the classic film theories,has influenced mockumentary,with a focus on narrative research of mockumentary.Firstly,this study attempts to explore the influence of realism on the development of mockumentary,starting from the concept and historical evolution of realism,and by discussing the theories and ideas of two representatives of the realism school,Kracauer and Andre Bazin,it reviews and summarizes their significant impacts on documentaries,providing sufficient theoretical basis for the analysis and classification of mockumentary(daily life,horror and thriller,current affairs and politics,and biographical).The study uses eight case analyses to discuss the narrative strategies of realism film theory in mockumentaries.Horizontal research takes the graduation design short film "keep a-live" as a case study to analyze in detail the application and embodiment of realism in the narrative of mockumentary,starting from the narrative subject,narrative object,narrative technique,and narrative style,exploring classic realism techniques such as "film eye," "direct cinema," and "Griersonian mode." This study extends to the construction of narrative scales and the issue of authenticity in mockumentary narratives,ultimately proposing narrative methods and ideal states that can be referenced and borrowed. |
