A Study Of Zhou Murun And His Poetry

Born in troubled times,Zhou Murun was famous for his poems and prose.He was not only the representative writer of patriotic poems during the Opium War,but also the leader of the poetic style of helping the world during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom.His poems and prose creation made a surenunciation of various schools of poetry since the early Qing Dynasty,broke through the Confucian poetry of complaining but not angry,broke out of the pattern of chasing after charm and style in the poetry circle,and got rid of the trend of chanting wind and moon and moaning without illness.With its strong documentary color and critical spirit,he recorded the dramatic changes of The Times in the late Qing Dynasty,which can be described as a "poetic history" of Daoxian period.His poems bear the enlightenment thought of applying to the world,and write his feelings of sympathy for the change of the country and the living people,with certain modern consciousness and characteristics.In this sense,Zhou Murun can be called one of the enlighteners and forerunners in the transformation process of Chinese literature modernization.However,the academic circle pays little attention to it,which is very inconsistent with its position and influence in literary history.On the basis of making full use of the previous research results,this paper adopts the research methods of understanding people and commenting on the world,and combines with Zhou Murun’s life experience and literary background,mainly makes a comprehensive study of Zhou Murun’s poetics thought,poetry creation and poetry style.The introduction part reviews the history and present situation of Zhou Murun’s research and determines the key points and methods of this paper.The main part of the thesis consists of seven chapters: the first chapter briefly describes Zhou Murun’s life experience,and combines his poems and works to analyze Zhou Murun’s thoughts and personality,in order to grasp the poet’s creation mentality.The second chapter discusses Zhou Murun’s social activities from three aspects: teachers and friends,officials in court and other social contacts,and investigates the influence of different groups on his literary creation.The third chapter combines the background of the poetry circle since the reign of Emperor Qianjia,discusses Zhou Murun’s opinions on the creation,content and function of his poems and summarizes his poetics thoughts from three aspects: learning from the ancient and poetic heart,virginity and beauty,and time for doing things.The fourth chapter longitudinally summarizes the evolution track of Zhou Murun’s poetic style,summarizes and analyzes the subject matter and content of his poems,which are mainly divided into five categories: attention to reality,documentary realism;Express emotion,express embrace;Fetters travel service,leisure is comfortable with people;Reward singing and farewell mourning;Chanting history of nostalgia,chanting things problem painting.The fifth chapter analyzes the artistic achievements of Zhou Murun’s poetry creation,from the emphasis on truth,solid,critical;Long than the description,fancy strange;Both body,make good use of group poetry;Phrasing,elegant and common appreciation;Various styles,male straight main five aspects to reveal its creation characteristics.The sixth chapter discusses the content and characteristics of Zhou Murun’s prose creation according to style classification,in order to reflect the overall picture of his literary creation.Summary of chapter vii pulled zhou family poem family heirloom of the wind,and combining the house gather the " Five Zhou ",discusses its brother Zhou Yuexiu,Zhou Xingjian,Zhou Xingyu,Zhou Xingyi among four poetry,probe into its family to Zhou Murun embellish the influence of the literary creation,and then through the zhou family as the core of literati and launched the "club" observation of literary activities in the late qing wu of ecological literature.The epilogue sets Zhou Murun’s poetics and literary creation on the background of the early modern times,and compares his position and influence in the poetry circle of the late Qing Dynasty.
