In the process of seeking self-realization,human beings need to constantly deal with the conflict between ideal self and real self to achieve self-consistency and congruence.This research adopts the method of psychobiography,takes Cheng Yanqiu,the master of Peking Opera,as the research object,takes his own articles,diaries,speeches,stage works,and memoirs and biographies of later generations as the research materials,takes the ideal self and the real self as the research theme,and uses various psychological theories to conduct a deep analysis of Cheng Yanqiu’s life story,in order to interpret the two major suspenseful problems existing in him.First,under the tradition of "follow in his fathers career footsteps",why do children not allowed to engage in arts? Second,under the Chinese culture that favors the "happy ending",why does him love tragedy?
