As a language unit in the language system,chunks were initially mainly used in teaching English as a second language.Many empirical studies have shown that chunks facilitate language output and can improve the fluency and appropriateness of the speaker’s language expression.Some domestic scholars have gradually researched the application of chunks theory to Chinese as a second language teaching,and combined with the research results to verify the feasibility of chunks teaching.At present,the research of chunks in China are mostly focused on vocabulary teaching,focusing on the ontology of Chinese chunks,and the research on teaching and teaching materials needs to be expanded.This paper chooses YCT Standard Course as the research object.This set of textbooks is compiled based on the Chinese and Exam Outline for New Primary and Secondary School Students.Learners can pass the YCT4 exam by completing volumes1-6 of the textbook.Studying the chunks in this textbook not only help learners master the accurate expression of Chinese smoothly,but also help them pass the YCT exam.Based on the theory of chunks and children’s cognitive law of language,this paper mainly uses the methods of data statistics,comparative research and questionnaire survey to make a detailed analysis of chunks in the series of textbooks of YCT Standard Course.This paper mainly includes four parts.The first chapter is the introduction,mainly clarifying the background of the topic,the reason of the topic,research objects,research methods and research status.The present research situation introduces the research of chunks by scholars at home and abroad and the teaching material of YCT Standard Course,and briefly summarizes the value of chunks in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.The second chapter summarizes the characteristics of Chinese chunks based on the definition and classification of Chinese chunks by domestic scholars,and mainly divides Chinese chunks into formulaic chunks,fixed chunks,collocative chunks,and frame chunks.Based on this,this chapter clarifies the steps,screening criteria,and statistical criteria of chunks in teaching materials.The third chapter analyzes the chunks in YCT Standard Course,mainly analyzes the number,presentation and repetition of chunks.The number includes the total number of chunks and the type and quantities of chunks in each textbook;The presentation includes chunks in the vocabulary,texts and exercises;The repetition introduces the general situation and the situation of the different types of chunks.The fourth chapter mainly expounds from the perspectives of textbook editors and teachers.In the aspect of textbook compilation,it is suggested that textbook editors should mark the chunks in the vocabulary and texts,establish the chunk index,supplement the important chunks,and balance the arrangement of various chunks.Based on the survey of international Chinese teachers with teaching experience,this paper analyzes teachers’ understanding of chunks and their application in teaching,and puts forward some suggestions for teachers to use YCT Standard Course to teach chunks.It is suggested that teachers should enhance the awareness of chunks in teaching,teach chunks flexibly,help students organize their learning chunks with the help of the induction table,and cultivate students’ awareness of chunks.It is hoped that this paper can provide some thoughts and references for the compilation of teaching materials for Chinese as a foreign language and the application of chunks teaching.
