| English reading classroom is facing new challenges with the promulgation of new curriculum standards.Students are very passive and lack of independent thinking and cooperative learning opportunities when they are taught by teachers in a conventional way,so they have difficulties in improving learning ability,thinking quality and reading ability.For the above problems,the author combined with the requirement of enhancing the core quality of English subject,trying to apply the "question chain" to junior high school English reading teaching and observe the effects of the "question chain" on the cultivation of students’ thinking quality.This study aims to answer the following two questions :(1)How to apply question chain to junior high school English reading teaching?(2)How do the design and application of question chain affect students’ logical,critical and innovative thinking?In order to answer the two questions above,the author conducted two rounds of action research.Forty-five students from Class 7,Grade 1 of a middle school in C city,J Province were taken as the research objects in this study.The author used the reading test paper,questionnaire,interview and classroom observation scale for data analysis.First of all,before action research,this study conducted a survey on the cultivation of thinking quality of junior high school students through interviews,questionnaires and pre-reading test papers.Secondly,in order to conduct the first action research,according to the results of the pre-test survey,"question chain" was designed and some other English reading teaching activities were designed to cultivate students’ thinking by the author.Finally,on the basis of the first round of research,the second round of research was carried out.The main findings of this study were as follows:(1)English reading classroom process based on question chain design and the cultivation of thinking quality:First,show the problem chain;Second,make a concept map;Third,sort out the clues of the article,grasp the structure of the article,experience the emotion of the article;Fourth,participate in activities to develop the quality of thinking.(2)Students’ thinking quality and ability can be improved through the setting of reading question chain,the implementation of reading teaching activities and the application of reading teaching strategies.Based on question chain design,the students’ thinking ability and English reading ability have been significantly improved.The research proves that it is feasible to cultivate the thinking quality of students in English reading teaching.Although this study wasn’t perfect,the strategies and paths of English reading teaching,based on question chain design and oriented to cultivate the thinking quality of junior middle school students were practically discussed,which can provide some references for education researchers. |
