| As the first and only Portuguese writer who won the Nobel Prize for Literature,Saramago’s works are of great research value.However,there are only a few researches on him in China,and his works have gradually attracted attention as Chinese translations have been published.Saramago was a late bloomer,writing his first influential work at the age of 60 and continuing to produce a great number of excellent works.In his later years,there are inevitably a lot of descriptions and discussions about death under his pen.He uses a unique Sach’s style to profoundly show his thoughts on life and death.From the perspective of death writing,this paper tries to explore the absurd art and philosophical connotation of Saramago’s death writing by analyzing the text of his novels,and at the same time summarizes the value of his death writing.The text is divided into four parts:The first chapter is based on Saramago’s overall fiction writing,and focuses on four novels,namely,Rampage of Blindness,Death Interval,The Year of Riccardo Reyes’ Death and All the Names.It sorts out the writing of death in Saramago’s novels,and analyzes the writing of death in Saramago’s novels from four aspects,namely,appearance of death,death interval,awareness of death and respect for death.And discusses the importance of death in the novel.In the second chapter,on the basis of the in-depth text analysis of the death writing in Saramago’s novels,the author experiences the unique absurd art used in the writing of death.This paper probes into the absurd art of death writing in the novel from three aspects: the bizarre death event,the absurd death image and the strange fable story,so as to grasp the artistic style of Saramago’s death writing.The third chapter mainly analyzes the philosophical connotation of Saramago’s death writing based on Heidegger’s existentialist view of death.Firstly,the nature of death is discussed from two aspects: the individuality of death and the inevitability of death.Secondly,it discusses the relationship between death and life,and starts from two aspects: death is a living life and life is a death on the road.Finally,death and regeneration are analyzed.In order to have an overall understanding of the philosophical connotation of Saramago’s death writing.The fourth chapter explores the value of Saramago’s death writing on the basis of the previous discussion.On the one hand,Saramago inspires readers to face death with courage,so as to reflect on life and look back on life.On the other hand,it also reflects the author’s concern for life and humanitarian care,and also shows the author’s unremitting thinking on the two important issues of death and survival.To sum up,this paper takes the writing of death in Saramago’s novels as the research object and discusses the characteristics of the writing of death in the novels from four perspectives: text presentation,absurd art,philosophical connotation and value judgment.It not only discusses the writing of death from multiple perspectives,but goes deeper and deeper,from content to form,to philosophical discussion,and finally to the thinking of value.This paper makes a comprehensive analysis of the death writing in Saramago’s novels. |
