In recent years, the prevalence of depression among university students in China has continued to rise and is significantly higher than that of other groups, making depression an invisible psychological killer of university students.Among them,about70% of the depressed patients report childhood traumatic experiences, and those who are depressed with high degree of childhood traumatic experiences are at higher risk of suicide. Therefore,it is necessary, urgent and long-term to pay attention to and intervene in the depressive tendencies of university students with childhood traumatic experiences. This study investigated the current situation and characteristics of depressive tendencies among university students, further explored the relationship between negative cognitive processing bias, coping style characteristics and childhood traumatic experiences among depressed university students, and explored the attentional bias characteristics of depressed university students with childhood traumatic experiences through an experimental study, and designed and implemented a narrative orientation group counselling programme based on these characteristics and relationships to reduce the level of depressive tendencies among university students with childhood traumatic experiences. The following findings were obtained:(1)The detection rate of depressive tendencies among university students was33.4%,with a high incidence of depression among the university population.(2)There were significant differences in depressive tendencies among university students in terms of parental relationship, parenting style and family economic status. The better the parental relationship, the lower the depressive tendency of students;the depressive tendency of students with democratic parenting style is significantly lower than that of students with authoritarian, spoiled and neglectful parenting style;the depressive tendency of students with "bad" family conditions is the highest and significantly higher than that of students with "very good" and "good" family economic conditions. The tendency to depression was highest among students with "bad" family conditions and significantly higher than those with "very good","good" and "average" family financial conditions. There were no significant differences in depressive tendencies among university students in terms of gender, grade, major, number of siblings, place of birth, and whether the parents were divorced.(3)The detection rate of traumatic childhood experiences among university students was 34.8%.The higher the students’ depressive tendencies, the higher the scores on childhood traumatic experiences, the more pronounced the negative cognitive processing bias, and the more inclined to negative coping styles.(4)Childhood traumatic experiences, negative cognitive processing bias, negative coping style and depressive tendency were significantly and positively correlated with each other;childhood traumatic experiences, negative cognitive processing bias, depressive tendency and positive coping style were significantly and negatively correlated with each other.(5)Negative cognitive processing bias partially mediated the relationship between childhood traumatic experiences and depressive tendencies, and negative coping style moderated the mediating role of negative cognitive processing bias.(6)Individuals were more sensitive to emotional information when words representing negative and positive emotions were paired together, the depressed subjects directed their attention towards the negative emotional words, while the control subjects avoided the negative emotional words.(7)Narrative-oriented group counselling was effective in reducing depressive tendencies, negative coping styles and negative cognitive processing bias in college students with childhood trauma. Conclusion: Higher propensity for depression among university students,at33.4%.The tendency to depression was significantly predicted by childhood traumatic experiences, negative cognitive processing bias and negative coping style, and college students with childhood traumatic experiences had a negative emotional information attention bias.
