As a sensory writer,Wang Meng presents a large number of sensory writing in his novels, among which auditory writing is particularly prominent. As the artistic expression of Wang Meng’s novel, auditory narrative not only has the narrative function and aesthetic function of constructing the novel art form, but also contains Wang Meng’s unique life experience perception, interprets the historical variation of the Republic, and has profound subjectivity, epochality and historicality. From the three aspects of character shaping, plot construction and narrative mode, this paper explores the writer’s cultural personality psychology behind the auditory narrative of Wang Meng’s novel and the auditory expression in the context of the history and culture of the Republic. The first chapter explores Wang Meng’s ability to "listen" to people and Wang Meng’s unique life experience when shaping characters through auditory writing. From Wang Meng’s description of the "uniqueness of speech" of the characters,we can find his capture of people’s social character, reflection on the identity of cadres and nostalgia for rural sounds.Human consciousness is closely related to auditory perception. From the "silent" inner monologue, dialogue and refutation, auditory association and auditory impression combined with vision, you can hear the complex and confused "heart voice" of people in the historical context. At the same time, under the description of modernity in the sound landscape, the "voice" of the external world and the inner life of the characters are resonated at the same frequency, showing the "Wang Meng-style" artistic life form of revolutionary heroes and suffering believers who have experienced ups and downs but are always firm, and fusing Wang Meng’s imagination of the ideal personality of the times. The second chapter mainly discusses the ideology behind Wang Meng’s form while musicalizing and sounding the plot of the novel.Referring to Roland Barthes’ s structuralist narratology, this paper divides the function of auditory narrative to participate in the plot construction of Wang Meng’s novel into core plot and non-core plot.Wang Meng is good at extracting the essence of musical structure to construct the basic framework of the novel, and this article focuses on selecting several texts that play a decisive role in the plot of the novel by "hearing" and "sound",and finds that the aesthetic structure of music interacts and fits with Wang Meng’s creative psychology, the ideological content of the novel, and the historical context of the times. In addition,"auditory" elements are often scattered in fragments of Wang Meng’s novels in fragmented form, which plays a role in catalyzing the plot and strengthening the narrative effect. The third chapter explores the main narrative mode formed by "hearing" when participating in the narrative of Wang Meng’s novel, and the emotional value, ideology and ethical expression behind it.First,Wang Meng constructs a collective resonance model from "individual" to "group" through the writing of mainstream melodies, and metaphorically metaphorically represents the growth model of the republic from "revolutionary triumph" to "new voice of reform" through the entanglement of popular music and mainstream music.Second, the emergence of sound media involves public/private discourse resistance,so that a public order construction model is formed.Third,in the context of history and modernity, the negative and positive experiences of hearing present auditory anxiety patterns and summoning-enlightenment modes.Through the induction of the narrative mode,Wang Meng’s auditory expression of the imagination of the Republic is discovered. The epilogue summarizes this article. It further discusses the related issues of auditory narrative, points out the dilemma and way out of auditory narrative, and puts forward new academic growth points, aiming to provide meaningful case studies for "sound literature".
