Soong Ching Ling And The Development Of Child Welfare In The Early Years Of The Founding Of The PRC(1949-1966)

In the early years of the founding of New China,with the domestic environment of peace and stability and the continuous improvement of the economic level,the number of children increased rapidly.Women left their families and went to work,and child care became a problem faced by many families.Soong Ching Ling led the China Welfare Association in pioneering work in maternal and child health care and children’s education.This work benefited from soong Ching Ling’s experience in leading and founding the China Defense League and the China Welfare Foundation during the New Democratic Revolution.After the founding of New China,under the leadership of the CPC,Soong Ching Ling took the initiative to reorganize the China Welfare Foundation into the China Welfare Association.Soong ching ling in encouraging women to the society at the same time through the maternal and child care and preschool education meet the demand of the penetration in the health and family child care,children’s art theatre and library benefits through the development of China,set up the children’s palace,the issue of "childhood",not only the construction of the new China children’s literary career and rich children’s after school life.At the same time,Soong Ching Ling and the China Welfare Association actively responded to the party’s call for technological revolution and devoted themselves to scientific research.Soong Ching Ling led the Chinese Welfare Association to carry out experimental and demonstration work in maternal and child health care,preschool education,out-of-school education,and children’s culture and art,giving play to her pioneering spirit and becoming an important part of the Party’s welfare for women and children,especially children’s welfare.Soong Ching Ling’s practice in the field of children’s welfare has enriched the ideological system of children’s welfare in China,provided valuable practical experience of children’s welfare work for the development of children’s welfare in China,and has a role model significance for the construction of contemporary children’s welfare institutions.Analyzing the historical contribution of Soong Ching Ling in the work of children’s welfare can inspire us to re-examine and promote the reform of superstructure in the field of children’s welfare,and to think and establish a pluralistic children’s welfare system.
