Liszt’s piano adaptation of Auf dem Wasser zu singen is an artwork on the basis of three degrees of creation.This opus was initially composed by German poet Stolberg,and then Austrian composer Schubert wrote a melody for it.That is the reason why it became a classic music.Finally,through the brilliant adaptation from Liszt,who is called “King of the piano”,this piano adaptation was accomplished.Liszt,in view of the emotion expressed in the original poem,conformed to the primary aesthetics with sublimation to write this distinguished opus.This paper aims at researching on piano adaptation of Auf dem Wasser zu singen,as well as,according to my understanding of the author and the background of his creation,so as to a brief overview and analsyis of the composition.On the basis of the artistic characteristics of Auf dem Wasser zu singen,this paper summarizes the features of Liszt’s adaptation,and explicates the key and difficult points,fallible points and skill points with a combination of the author’s experience in performance,so as present a fresh view of piano performance and acquaint the reader with the charm of Liszt’s piano adaptation and soul of Auf dem Wasser zu singen.
