With the in-depth improvement of the new curriculum reform and the continuous majorization of school teaching activities,unit integral teaching drives teaching from separation to integration with its focus on integrity.The English Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools published in 2017 proposes that teachers should take the concept of English learning activities as a guide in the process of teaching.And teachers design a series of English learning activities with relevance,progressiveness and comprehensiveness based on the thematic meaning of the unit and relying on different discourse types.The activity-based English learning emphasizes that teachers design teaching objectives,integrate content and devise activities from the holistic perspective of a unit.Therefore,how to design and implement a English teaching model which combines the activity-based English learning and the unit overall teaching should become common concern for scholars and front-line practitioners in the filed of education.Based on this background,the study takes the English teachers and all the students of a certain class of the first grade in a senior high school in Binzhou City,Shandong Province as the research objects.Through the method of action research and based on the holistic language teaching method and constructivism,this paper probes into the current teaching situation and application effect of the combination of activity-based English learning and unit integrity teaching in senior high school.This study specifically answers the following research questions:(1)What is the current teaching situation of unit integrated teaching from the perspective of activity-based English learning in senior high school?(2)How to design and implement the unit integrated teaching from the perspective of activity-based English learning in senior high school?(3)What is the influence of implementing unit integrated teaching from the perspective of activity-based English learning on students’ learning attitudes and learning effect in senior high school ?In order to provide answers to the research questions,the researcher surveyed the unit overall teaching status of English teachers in senior high school through questionnaires and interviews.Before the implementation of action research,the researcher designed an action research teaching plan for the unit overall teaching in high school from the perspective of activity-based English learning and applied this plan to actual teaching.During the implementation of action research,the researcher learned about the impact of implementing the unit overall teaching in high school from the perspective of English learning activities on students’ learning attitudes by recording students’ classroom performance and analyzing interview results.After the action research,the researcher compared and analyzed the test scores of the students before and after the action research,and explored the implementation effect of the unit overall teaching from the perspective of activity-based English learning in high school.After a comprehensive analysis,this study finally reached the following findings:(1)English teachers in senior high school are unclear about the unit integrated teaching from the perspective of activity-based English learning and fail to effectively implement it in daily teaching.(2)The unit integrated teaching from the perspective of activity-based English learning can significantly improve students’ classroom participation and autonomous learning ability.(3)The unit integrated teaching from the perspective of activity-based English learning in senior high school can significantly improve students’ English performance.Based on his own experience and research results in the process of teaching,the researcher gives the following suggestions for front-line practitioners in education to carry out the unit integrated teaching from the perspective of activity-based English learning in high school:(1)Pay attention to the construction of the unit overall content and highlight the unit themes;(2)Upgrade the design of English teaching and learning activities and develop students’ logical thinking ability.
