| In China,walnuts have a long history.Walnuts have high medicinal value and are excellent for dietary therapy.The development and production of walnut nutrition health oil has good economic and social benefits for improving people’s lives,promoting people’s health and expanding foreign trade.Meanwhile,with the development of food economy,China’s grain,oil and foodstuff transactions and industrial cooperation in the international market are becoming more and more frequent,requiring more accurate commodity information and communication channels,among which the translation level of translators is related to the stable development of China’s grain,oil and foodstuff foreign trade industry.In the source text Walnut Oil Processing Technology(excerpts 1 and 2)selected for this report,the author gives a detailed introduction to the various aspects of walnuts and walnut oil,the process and technology of producing walnut oil,etc.Hermeneutic translation theory has been applied to translation research by many scholars in recent years,but it has been mainly applied to the study of translator’s subjectivity in literary translation,and rarely involved in food-based texts.However,by reading the relevant materials in recent years,we can see that George Steiner’s four-step translation theory also has a guiding effect on information-based texts.Therefore,in this translation practice report,Walnut Oil Processing Technology(excerpts 1 and 2)was selected as the source text for translation.In the process of this translation practice,the following points were emphasized.First,the translator’s understanding of the source text.Second,the choice of vocabulary.The third is how to make the translation conform to the language habits of the target language.On the basis of George Steiner’s four-step translation theory,the translator discusses how to translate food texts under the guidance of the theory by combining the analysis of relevant specific examples.There are five chapters in this paper.Chapter 1 outlines the research background,research purpose and research method.Chapter 2 focuses on the implementation process of the translation task.Chapter 3 systematically introduces George Steiner’s four-step translation theory.Chapter 4 introduces the specific application of George Steiner’s four-step translation theory in translation practice with examples.Chapter 5reviews and summarizes the translation gains and shortcomings of the translator,while the translator also expects to provide reference materials and translation experience for food translation. |
