Curatorial Research On Contemporary Calligraphy Exploration Exhibition

"Contemporary Calligraphy Exploration Exhibition" refers to an exhibition with exploratory nature in all aspects of calligraphy since the reform and opening up.These exploration exhibitions directly reflect the new face of calligraphy creation in this period,and the curatorial activities behind them have more important influence on these exhibitions.From the perspective of curatorial practice,curatorial idea and curatorial context,this paper analyzes the causes and development process of contemporary calligraphy exploration exhibition,understands the curatorial organization,curators’ calligraphy ideas and curatorial practice methods,thinks about the ecological environment of calligraphy exploration and exhibition in different periods,and how to promote the current and future calligraphy curatorial activities.Judging from the curators of the contemporary calligraphy exploration exhibition,at first it was the free combination of groups and collective efforts,and then it was more organized and planned with the intervention of academic groups and institutions of higher learning.Since the end of the 1990 s,new types such as art hosts and independent curators have emerged.From the perspective of curatorial operation,the collection and screening of exhibits are mainly based on invitation and nomination;At first,most of the funds were raised by the curators themselves,and then gradually sponsored by enterprises.Since the 21 st century,the government has led,and the government and enterprises have cooperated with artists to organize exhibitions.The curatorial idea of the contemporary calligraphy exploration exhibition focuses on exploring the new formal language,writing theme,contemporary cultural value and unique display mode of contemporary calligraphy through exhibitions,and thinking about "what kind of art is calligraphy" and "how calligraphy should intervene in the present".The factors that affect the curatorial exhibition of contemporary calligraphy exploration include: the implementation of reform and opening up and market economy system,the formation of the concept of "great art",the connection between curatorial exhibition and artistic criticism,and the emergence of new ways of communication.In the new context of the times,we should actively build a new ecology of calligraphy curation,accelerate the improvement of the art system,attach importance to audience research,and promote cross-border and interdisciplinary cooperation in calligraphy curation.
