| This paper attempts to study the type and the ways of image display in the narrative construction of Barbara Wong’s films,determining the general principles in her narrative process and analyzing the way in which she gradually has her own style.The first part of the paper classifies the narrative construction of Wong’s films into three types:causative linear construction,compositional block construction and overlapping comparative construction in terms of the model proposed by Li.Furthermore,this part analyzes the function of specific narrative construction types on theme,character and plot.The second part focuses on the concrete principles of time,space and viewpoint in the narrative construction of Wong’s films.Wong employs dual time to carry out variation narration,using overlapping or collective space combination to carry out multi-character narration and promoting plots through the change of focalization.The third part analyzes audio-visual language in the narrative construction of Wong’s films.She employs changes in lens motion and angle to express the overlap of the space-time,using the comparison of light and tonality to reflect the virtual and real,and sound for natural transition between narrative paragraphs. |
