Research On The Mythological Narrative In The Three-body

Mythology was once considered to exist only in primitive society and in an era when science has not yet developed.However,the ’ new mythologism ’ and ’ retelling myth ’movements prove that myth still has vigorous vitality in modern society,because myth is not an explanation of the material world,myth originates from the anxiety of survival.Primitive people create ancient myths when they know nothing about the world,while modern people still know little about the future and the universe outside the solar system.It is between the people with limited cognition and the infinite unknown universe that lies the mythological narrative.Through the study of the mythological narrative in The ThreeBody Problem,this paper analyzes the appropriation,deformation and re-creation of traditional myths;on the other hand,it also highlights the indispensability and permanence of mythology.Because even in science fictions that emphasize scientific spirit and scientific cognition,ancient myths still play an important role,which stimulates our imagination and inspires our thinking about the living conditions of modern people.The introduction part introduces the ’ new mythologism ’tendency in the study of mythology,and puts forward the object and content of this study,clarifies the concept of ’mythological narrative ’,and combs the research status of science fiction from the perspective of mythology.The first chapter : the myth motif in The Three-Body Problem : starting from the myth motif,taking the two myth motif indexes compiled by Yang Lihui and Wang Xianzhao as the reference,this paper analyzes the traditional myth motifs that are reconstructed in The Three-Body Problem,and summarizes them into three categories : multi-sun motif,impose penalties motif and war motif.The analysis of motifs reveals the mythological narrative contained in The Three-Body Problem and shows the displacement deformation and enduring vitality of the traditional myth motif in contemporary science fiction.The second chapter : the divine characters in The Three-Body Problem :The ThreeBody Problem has created many characters with divine power : the alien civilization with superb science and technology is like the gods living in the mountain of Olympus;Luo Ji and Zhang Beihai,who show courage,wisdom and strategy different from ordinary people while sacrifice their lives for the well-being of the people,are the collectivist heroes praised in traditional mythology.The images of Ye Wenjie and Cheng Xin are derived from the prototype of the Great Mother of human collective unconsciousness.Both female images show the dual attributes of good and evil,nourishing and devouring everything.Chapter 3 : Mythological space-time view in The Three-Body Problem: Mythological time and mythological space are important contents of mythological thinking.Mythological time is a time form that can be repeated and circularly circulated.Mythological space is manifested as a multi-layered and heterogeneous space form.In addition,mythological time and space are sacred.The time at the beginning of the creation of the universe is sacred,and the home space that gives human beings the direction of existence is also sacred.The narrative space-time of The Three-Body Problem presents the characteristics of the above mythological space-time view.The fourth chapter : the theme of myth in The Three-Body Problem: the theme of myth is the core content of myth,which is the grasp of myth narrative as a whole.The mythological theme of The Three-Body Problem can be divided into two parts : " disaster and rescue " and " hero ’s growth." The story of The Three-Body Problem reveals the disaster of destroying the world and also reveals the causes of the disaster and the path of disaster relief,and completes the growth journey of the hero in the process of containing the disaster and saving the world.The fifth chapter : the function of the The Three-Body Problem myth narrative : The Three-Body Problem bears the revelation function and development function of the myth.The revelation function of the myth points out the crux of the problem.The novel reveals many problems in the society,awakens people ’s awe of nature and reflection on instrumental rationality;the development function determines the direction of our survival,constructs the meaning of personal existence,promotes the individual ’s recognition of society,and alleviates the anxiety of survival.
