| “A community with a shared future for mankind” is a global governance concept prosoped by China,which contributes wisdom for solving worldwide problems.Chinese mainstream media shoulders the mission and responsibility of spreading this spirit.Especially in external communication,it is the urgent responsibility of Chinese mainstream media to convey this abstract,complex and obscure idea in concrete,concise and popular way,clarify China’s views and positions,eliminate the confusion and misunderstanding of international community and efficiently construct the discourse of “a community with a shared future for mankind” in the process of news reporting.Therefore,it an important task for People’s Daily Overseas Edition,one of the most crucial mainstream media in China’s external communication,to construct the discourse of “a community with a shared future for mankind”.This paper selects the reports about “a community with a shared future for mankind” in People’s Daily Overseas Edition as the research object,takes social discourse theory,narrative theory and dialogue theory as basic perspectives,and choose content analysis and discourse analysis as the main methods,in order to understand the current situation of discourse construction of “a community with a shared future for mankind”,reveal its discourse construction mechanism,discuss its discourse construction strategy and provides reference for similar reports in the future.So this paper focuses on three core issues.First,what is the current situation of discourse construction of “a community with a shared future for mankind”in People’s Daily Overseas Edition,and what kind of discourse picture,discourse content and media image are presented? Secondly,what is the discourse construction mechanism of "a community with a shared future for mankind" in People’s Daily Overseas Edition? What symbolic and rhetoric techniques are used? What are the degree and characteristics of the narrativity and dislogism of the texts? Thirdly,what are the discourse construction directions and strategies of "a community with a shared future for mankind" in People’s Daily Overseas Edition in the future?The findings are as follows.Firstly,People’s Daily Overseas Edition is regarding "a community with a shared future for mankind" as a major theme of agenda setting.Most articles are under political issues,including discussion of concepts,strategic planning,major international conferences and head-of-state diplomaticy.In addition,the articles often involve Asia and Africa,focus on the actions and statements of governments,media,enterprises,education institutions and international organizations,which convey a positive emotional tendencies.The media images of the "a community with a shared future for mankind" constructed by this media include a security community of peace and stability,an economic community of mutual benefit and win-win results,an open and inclusive cultural community and a health community of solidarity.Secondly,People’s Daily Overseas Edition generates the discourse meaning of "a community with a shared future for mankind" with the help of symbolic and rhetoric mechanism,interprets the meaning of the discourse with the help of narrative and argumentation mechanism,and promotes the integration of the meaning of the discourse through dialogue and exchange mechanisms.In the part of discourse analysis,this paper refers to the narrative theory of Mary-Raul Ryan et al and the dialogue theory of Bakhtin et al,puts forward the composing conditions of news narrativity and dialogicality,and evaluates the narrative and dialogue features of those theme articles about "a community with a shared future for mankind" in People’s Daily Overseas Edition.The analysis shows that these reports have a low degree of narrativity,because in the early stage of the transmission of political ideas,in order to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the transmission,the narrativity of the texts has to be weakened to some extent.Nearly half of the articles have a high degree of dialogue.The texts have multiple subjects and sources of dialogue,with the form and characteristics of dialogue,but don’t have conflicting and refuting heterogeneous dialogue voices.Finally,the paper puts forward the discourse construction strategy of "a community with a shared future for mankind" in People’s Daily Overseas Edition.In terms of content,it can elaborate the connotation of the community based on China’s construction practice,break through the inherent subject categories and cognitive limitations,and bring more regions into the media agenda,enriching the discourse connotation and media images of "a community with a shared future for mankind".In terms of content,the newspaper can express abstract concepts concretely with the help of symbolic rhetoric,reasonably improve the narrative level of the theme report,and moderately make the news discourse more open and polyphonic,optimizing indegraphic mechanism of the texts. |
