Research On Digital Labor Thoughts Of Fuchs From The Perspective Of Marxist Political Economy

Christian Fuchs is a representative of the foreign theory of digital labor.Based on the background of the rapid development of information and communication technology,he used relevant theories of Marxist political economics to conduct in-depth analysis of digital labor in a digital capitalist society,and to reveal the ruthless exploitation of digital labor by ICT capital,thus forming a Marxist critical thought on digital labor.The birth of this thought,which is the inheritance and application of Marxist political economics,provides a new sight on the study of Marxist political economics in the information age for academic circles at home and abroad.This thesis,which analyzes digital labor thoughts of Christian Fuchs from the perspective of Marxist political economics,mainly includes four parts.Firstly,by tracing the background and origin of Fuchs’ thought,this thesis believes that his thought is produced and developed under the development of information and communication technology,the rise of digital capitalism and the return of Marxist theory to western academic circles.As a product of critical thinking and in-depth exploration of the economy,politics,and culture of the capitalist society,Fuchs’ thought is developed from such theories,that is,Marxism labor theory of value,Hegel’s Dialectics and Dallas Walker Smythe’s theory of audience commodity.Secondly,this thesis systematically elaborates the contents of Fuchs’ thought on digital labor,including its conception,basic dimensions,alienation and exploitation,dual criticism and basic characteristics.Thirdly,from the perspective of Marxist political economics,this thesis expounds the internal relationship between digital labor thoughts of Fuchs and Marxist political economy by conducting a systematical analysis of the production process of digital labor in Fuchs’ thought,and making an in-depth analysis of digital goods,production of surplus value and capital accumulation by using such theories as Marx’s labor theory of value,surplus value,and theory of capital accumulation.Finally,this thesis makes an objective and dialectical evaluation of digital labor thoughts of Fuchs,and concludes that his thought has provided theoretical references for exploring the future of digital labor justice,protecting the rights and interests of digital workers and developing digital economy.Fuchs’ exploration of digital labor has offered certain valuable references for understanding digital labor in the information age,advancing the modernization of Marxist political economics,and finding a way to get rid of the control of digital capital.Indeed,Fuchs’ thought still has certain theoretical limitations,so our exploration of digital labor still has a long way to go.
