English classroom is the main place for domestic learners to obtain language input and practice language output.As the main environment for students to construct knowledge,classroom not only affects students’ academic performance,but may also have an impact on students’ learning emotion.Academic self-efficacy is an important learning emotional factor,which plays a strong guiding role in students’ learning.Nevertheless,there are few studies on improving students’ academic self-efficacy from the perspective of classroom environment.On the basis of literature review,this study takes Moos’ s human environment theory and Bandura’s social learning theory as the theoretical foundation and adopts the quantitative and qualitative research methods by using questionnaires and interview.Targeted with 357 junior high school students in Beihai city,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,this current research distributes English Classroom Environment Questionnaire and English Academic Self-efficacy Questionnaire to investigate the following questions:(1)What is the current situation of junior high school students’ perceptions of English classroom environment? In terms of gender,what are the differences?(2)What is the current situation of junior high school students’ academic self-efficacy in English learning? In terms of gender,what are the differences?(3)Is there a correlation between English classroom environment and academic self-efficacy of junior high school students? If so,how they are correlated?To analyze the data collected By SPSS 25.0,the author gets the following findings:(1)Junior high school students have a good perception of English classroom environment,especially in the two dimensions students’ cohesiveness and task orientation,which shows that junior high school students are willing to help each other as well as actively complete tasks to promote English learning.Moreover,there are differences between boys and girls in English classroom environment perception.The girls perceive better towards English classroom environment.(2)Junior high school students have a high sense of academic self-efficacy,especially in the dimension of association with classmates,which shows that junior high school students will actively seek the help from their classmates in learning,so as to promote English learning.In addition,there is no difference in academic self-efficacy between male and female students.(3)There is a positive correlation between English classroom environment and academic self-efficacy of junior high school students.Among them,there is a great positive correlation between student cooperation,students cohesiveness and academic self-efficacy.Through the analysis of the above results,the author puts forward some suggestions in order to improve the junior high school classroom environment and promote the improvement of students’ sense of academic self-efficacy.For teachers:(1)From the perspective of student cooperation: teachers should cultivate students’ sense of cooperation and provide more cooperation opportunities for them.(2)From the perspective of student cohesiveness: teachers should carry out diversified activities to improve the cohesiveness of students;set up study groups to help students know more about each other.(3)From the perspective of teacher support: teachers should give students more positive feedback,treat students equally,and actively give students learning strategy support;Give more emotional guidance to boys so as to promote the integration of teacher-student relationship.(4)From the perspective of classroom order: teachers should formulate class discipline requirements with students,strictly implement the disciplines,and adjust the rules appropriately according to the feedback from students.(5)From the perspective of task orientation: the instructions of teachers’ task arrangement should be clear,and the setting of tasks should be stepped and be optional according to the gender characteristics of different gender students.For students: students should actively cultivate the sense of cooperation and positively participate in cooperative learning activities;strengthen the sense of helping each other and learn to share;seriously abide by the classroom order;actively train the learning strategies given by teachers;and take each learning task seriously.
