A Study On The Involvement Of Group Work In Informal Social Support For The Elderly Who Lost Their Only Child

With the arrival of aging society and the increase of the elderly lost only child caused by the one-child policy,the problem of shidu bereaved elderly has aroused widespread concern in the society.For the elderly who lost their only child,on the one hand,they have to bear the continuous psychological pain of losing their child;On the other hand,they are faced with old age problems brought by the growth of age.In the process of suffering and aging,there are financial,spiritual and social problems due to limited social support and inefficient use of resources.Therefore,it is necessary to exert the power of social work to intervene in the construction of social support network for the elderly who lost their only child from a professional perspective.Based on this,from the perspective of social support,this paper takes the elderly who lost their only child in X community as the research object,and uses interview method and observation method as data collection methods to understand the current situation of social support for the elderly who lost their only child in X community,and analyzes the existing problems.Through the analysis of the status quo and existing problems of social support for19 elderly people who lost their only child in X community,it is found that their problems in formal social support include insufficient government support,insufficient community support,and weak support and participation of social organizations.In terms of informal social support,there are some problems such as weakening of family support function,relatively limited support from relatives and insufficient resources from peer neighbors.In this paper,the elderly who lost their only child in X community were involved in group work to help them get new informal social support and consolidate their support from informal social support,so as to make up for the lack of original social support.Finally,through the evaluation of group activities,summed up the advantages and limitations of group work in the intervention of informal social support for the elderly.
