Hands on Learning refers to a teaching method in which students use biological knowledge as the basis, make physical models with the help of simple materials, and operate and apply the models with the help of video interpretation,so as to improve their ability and academic achievement.Hands on Learning has four key technologies:concept construction technology, material operation technology, language expression technology and information exchange technology. This study will focus on the application of material operation technology and language expression technology in teaching practice. In this study,136 senior one students in a county middle school in Jinzhong City were selected for teaching practice research,of which 92 students participated in the quasi experiment,45 in the experimental class,44 in the control class and 47 in the rocket class participated in the single group pre-test and post-test experiment for a semester of Hands on Learning.512 student works were collected and tested with the existing scale with good reliability and validity. To explore the changes of students’learning work quality, modeling ability and academic achievement during the learning period.,the following experimental results were obtained:(1)The quality of practical learning works has been significantly improved:paired sample t-test was conducted on the scores of learning works in the early and late stages of Hands on Learning in rocket class and experimental class respectively. The P values of the two classes are 0.000,less than 0.001,with significant statistical difference. The difference between the mean value of the paired before and after the scores of the learning works of the rocket class and the experimental class is greater than 0,indicating that the quality of students’practical learning works has been significantly improved after the implementation of Hands on Learning.(2)After analyzing the post test scores of modeling ability between the experimental class and the control class, the independent sample t-test results show that(P=0.043<0.05)there are significant differences in the post test scores of modeling ability between the two classes, indicating that Hands on Learning is helpful to improve the modeling ability of students in the experimental class.(3)There is a very significant correlation between the scores of practical learning works and the scores of modeling ability in rocket class and experimental class(Pearson correlation coefficient R rocket=0.406,R experiment=0.618),which shows that in Hands on Learning, the higher the evaluation score of students’practical learning works, the higher the post-test score of modeling ability.(4)Independent sample t-test was conducted on the scores of biology post-test between the experimental class and the control class,P=0.046<0.05,which showed that there was a significant difference, indicating that the biological scores of the experimental class with Hands on Learning were significantly improved compared with the control class with traditional teaching.(5)From the perspective of the results of practical learning works, the results of practical learning works in rocket class are significantly higher than those in experimental class, which shows that the students’learning foundation is different, and the quality of students’practical learning works is also different. The following conclusions are drawn:(1)Hands on Learning can improve the quality of high school students’practical learning works.(2)Hands on Learning can improve high school students’modeling ability.(3)students’practical learning work quality is positively correlated with their modeling ability.(4)Hands on Learning can improve the biological performance of high school students.(5)students with different learning bases have different quality of practical learning works.Three teaching suggestions are put forward based on this research.
