| Affected by economic and cultural factors,the main force of dementia care in China is still family caregivers.People with dementia have behavioral disabilities,memory and intelligence,and the long duration of the disease makes care more difficult.In the process of long-term care,caregivers often face multiple pressures and difficulties,which can easily lead to physical,psychological and social communication problems.Failure to provide timely support can have an impact on the quality of life of caregivers and caregivers.While guidelines and policies for services related to the care of older adults with dementia have been developed,the multiple pressures faced by family caregivers are often overlooked.Through the interview method,the author collected the basic data information and social support status of family caregivers of the elderly with dementia in W City,S Province.Family caregivers of elderly people with dementia have insufficient social support in self,family,peer groups,community,etc.The author summarizes the social support needs of family caregivers of elderly people with dementia into the following aspects: the needs for improving family support function,peer group support,expanding social support,and enhancing personal social support capability.This paper uses the social work casework method,based on the theory of social support,and provides personalized services for clients through a total of eleven interventions in five service stages.The author uses personal network strategies,mutual assistance strategies,volunteer link strategies,and community empowerment strategies to help family caregivers of elderly people with dementia connect social support resources in four aspects: formal,informal,quasi-formal and professional support,and provide them with material,emotional and informational support.Meet the social support needs of family caregivers of the elderly with dementia,consolidate and expand their social support network,relieve the care pressure of family caregivers,and improve the lives of elderly and family caregivers with dementia. |
