Research purpose: Chengdu is actively building a child-friendly city and a park city demonstration area that practices the new development concept. In this context, this study explores the current child-friendly degree of Chengdu’s parks and the status quo of children’s activity space in urban parks, and creates children’s activity space from the perspective of action development as a solution path.As one of the children’s activity places, the park plays an important role in children’s physical and mental development.3-6 years old is a sensitive period for children’s movement development. This study creates children’s activity space from the perspective of movement development, with a view to promoting children’s movement development and building a child-friendly park.Research methods: This paper adopts the methods of literature review, field survey, questionnaire survey, mathematical statistics and interview, takes the children’s activity space in urban parks as the research object, conducts field survey on children’s activity space in 13 parks in Chengdu, and understands the status and problems of children’s activity space.Using a questionnaire survey method to understand the child friendliness of urban parks, and conducting interviews with young children to gain a deeper understanding of the park’s child friendliness. The collected data used mathematical statistics to analyze the child friendliness of urban parks and the correlation between the dimensions of the questionnaire and children’s satisfaction.Research results:(1)There are no throwing areas in the children’s activity spaces of 13 parks surveyed, and only 2 parks have facilities for children to jump.(2)Yuedong Colorful Forest Park does not have a dedicated children’s activity area.(3)Only Dong’an Lake Park has set up large-scale comprehensive facilities.(4)The final average value of the child friendly park questionnaire is 3.6.(5)Children’s satisfaction is significantly positively correlated with access information inside and outside the park, specialized sports venues, children’s activity venues, internal environment, services, and safety, with r values of 0.314,0.363,0.632,0.517,0.567,and 0.618,respectively.Research conclusion:(1)The existence of activity facilities in children’s activity areas does not fully promote the development of children’s movements.(2)A few parks do not have dedicated children’s activity facilities.(3)There are many single facilities in the park, but there are too few large-scale comprehensive facilities.(4)Chengdu urban parks are relatively friendly to children.(5)There is a positive correlation between children’s satisfaction and various dimensions of the questionnaire, with the greatest correlation being with the children’s playground. From the perspective of action development, the following suggestions are proposed for creating children’s activity spaces:(1)In the walking area, maze patterns can be set up to allow children to walk happily. For young children, small hills can also be set up to exercise their walking movements.(2)To exercise children’s running,a "Z" shaped running area can be set up in the activity area.(3)For climbing areas, tires can be used to set up climbing walls, climbing towers,etc.(4)For the creation of jumping areas, patterns such as jumping houses,"mirror me",standing long jumps, and continuous forward jumps can be set up on the ground to guide young children to jump.Hanging objects can also be used to allow young children to jump and retrieve objects.(5)For the throwing area, the main method is to set up baskets, reducing the height of the baskets and increasing their area.(6)For the development of young children’s balance ability, the main method is to use equipment placement, such as swinging, sliding ropes, swinging bridges, and other facilities.
