In modern high-level basketball games,due to the complete defensive system of the defense,it is difficult for the offense to have easy shooting opportunities,in order to improve the success rate of the offense and get better shots,coaches of the teams have been looking for ways to crack.Ball screen is the most effective and direct way to get rid of the defense,and it is also the most difficult to be defended,so it has been used more frequently in recent years in high-level games.This paper uses literature research method,video observation method,mathematical statistics method,etc.,to study 821 ball screen fits in all 28 games of the group round robin of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics 3x3 men’s basketball team,in order to summarize the common law of ball screen fits used in high-level three-person basketball games,and to make a comparative analysis of each team’s use of ball screen fits.The conclusions of the study are as follows.1.The Latvian men’s basketball team was the team that used the most number of ball-screen fits among the eight teams,and there were significant differences among the teams in the number of ball-screen fits used.There is no significant difference between the teams in the success rate of the offense with ball screen.2.Overall,the number of screens initiated in different periods varied significantly.The highest number of screens were initiated in the 8-12 s period,while the lowest number of screens were initiated in the 0-4s period.However,the offensive success rate of the 0-4s period was the highest of all periods.A cross-sectional comparison between teams showed that there was a significant difference in the number of screens initiated by different teams in each time period.3.All the teams in the Tokyo Olympic Games mainly screened the ball in the high area of the court,with the highest percentage of screen in the middle and high areas,and there was no significant difference in the success rate of screen in different areas.Also,there is no significant difference in the number of screens initiated by each team in different areas.4.The success rate of fake screen is the highest among all forms of screen,and there is no significant difference in the offensive efficiency of different forms of screen,while there is a big difference in the use of ball screen among teams.5.After the ball screen cooperation,the number of finishes completed by the ball carrier is the most,while the number of finishes completed by the third player is less;the success rate of shooting finishes completed by the screen man roll to the basket is the highest,and the success rate of shooting finishes by the screen man off the bounce is the lowest.The top three finishing methods used by all the seven teams except Belgium were the three-point finishing by the ball carrier,the break finishing by the ball carrier and the downward finishing by the screen man.6.There was a big difference in the number of ball screen initiated between different player positions,and the most number of ball screen was initiated by the cooperation between inside and outside players.
