Problem-solving teaching has always been the core of mathematics teaching,and it has also been the focus of long-term research by scholars at home and abroad,and its importance cannot be ignored.In the "How to Solve the Problem",Polya divides the problem-solving process into four major steps and gives detailed guidelines,which have a positive effect on students’ problem solving.The sequence of number is an extremely challenging content,its importance cannot be ignored,and it occupies a pivotal position in the college entrance examination.It can comprehensively test students’ mathematical and logical reasoning skills,and its complexity often makes students feel daunted.Therefore,integrating Polya’s thought of problem-solving into the sequence problem can optimize the students’ problem-solving process and improve their mathematical problem-solving ability.First of all,by analyzing the characteristics of Polya’s problem-solving thought,combined with the learning situation of senior high school students and the requirements of sequence of number in the textbook,it is found that Polya’s problem-solving thought perfectly matches the requirements put forward in the "General High School Mathematics Curriculum Standards" in terms of education,teacher and student views.Then,a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate and count the learning attitude and habit of thinking about sequence of numbers of senior two students in a high school.Based on the statistical results,the main problems encountered by students in solving problems were summarized.On this basis,combined with Polya’s problem-solving thought,from the four stages of understanding the problem,making the plan,implementing the plan and reviewing,this paper puts forward the problem-solving strategies for the three key problem types of the sequence and gives two teaching cases.Finally,through the questionnaire survey again to analyze the effectiveness of problem-solving teaching strategies,it is proved that the integration of Polya’s problem-solving thoughts into the teaching of sequence problem-solving can improve students’ problem-solving ability,and also help teachers to teach sequence of numbers problem-solving.
